Resetting 1.8L ECU

Post by VizualXTC »

How would I go about resetting my ECU on my 94 GS, and what are the bennefits of it? Also if you upgrade your ECU what will it do for the performance of your car, and if you know, how dies it do it? I am new to the engine aspect of the MX-3 but I am learning fast and all the help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone
~Ryan~

Disconnecting your car battery for about 10 minutes will reset your ECU...this will put it back to stock settings...
------------------
~'94 GS (Creek Blue Mica)

What will the stock settings do for performance? Is there a way to reprogram it so it gets beteter performance or do I need to buy a new one? Also what does it do performance wise?

You can reprogram it for better fuel and ignition curves. But generic chip makers like Jet and Superchips just usually remove rev and speed limiters from what I hear. Check the link in my sig titled "ECU reprogramming". To reprogram one of our ECU's, you would have to have extensive experience with our computer. Andrew Bronsword is one of the few people who have this experience. He is not currently selling any of his services, but I'd stay tuned to the Forced Induction forum on www.Probetalk.com for updates in that area.
------------------
David Coleman
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
V6 engine info | KL FAQ | ECU reprogramming | K series Image cache | Probetalk Archive Search
Support OPEC: Buy an SUV
