Sorry, haven't taken mine to the track yet. Once I get the quirks worked out of mine, I'll head down and take a few runs at the 1/4 mile. Yeah, let me know when you get back from the track.
2.5mx3, I dont think these questions are right for this area of the board, but its better to talk to someone whos already done the swap. How much should I expect to pay for the 2.5L KL-ZE engine? I heard its a straight bolt up, can I use the same mounts and everything? What transmission did you use? Thanks. Boots

Heya Boots: For now, this seems like the only place to talk about the swap... I didn't really see a section that is specific for these types of discussions.
Anyway, you can expect to pay anywhere between $1000 and $2200USD for the ZE. It just depends on where you get it. If you're from the States, I would suggest looking at places from Canada, as the weaker dollar would keep the cost down to you. If you can get a good deal on shipping, or drive to pick it up, it might be worth it.
The KLZE (and 03) are pretty much just straight bolt-in engines. All engine mounts are the same, although on my Eunos engine, the bracket for the # 3 mount is different, so I just swapped the one from the 1.8. Depending on what year MX-3 you have, you may need to add a 3rd temperature sensor to the ZE. I think it was the '92 and '93's that had 3 temp sensors. MY ZE only had 2. You can use your current tranny, although the 2.5 tranny would work. However, the gear ratios are different in the 2.5 tranny.
You'll also want to get a VAF from a 2.5L. I picked one up for $50US. Check out http://www.car-parts.com for a good source of parts. Hope this helps! you should reach high 14's with a KL03 2.5 engine and a 5spd tranny
most start off at around 15.2 and as you race you work your way down.
unless you live in Montana - there you will get 16 seconds - because of the altitude
I started off at 14.8 with my ZE and as I worked on the engine it got better.
My best 14.04/99 mph
my average was 14.2 @97 mph before the wing was installed. With the wing its much slower but on the 29th I will race again with a new chip and no wing.
Steve
------------------
All motor 176WHP Mx3 - Dyno test coming in April

You need the vaf and the ecu for the 2.5
some ZE won't fit in the mx-3 because of the neck is straight you need a slight bend to clear the brake fuid resivor but some ZE have a bend
paid $800cnd for KL03 motor $100cnd for ECU
I think a pretty good deal
Beat a GSR integ last month lost to a prelude yesterday my clutch just keeps getting worse soon I won't be able to beat the bus
------------------
Clear White 2.5L GSR
