I remember reading ages ago about what the MX stood for and now I can't remember where I read it. oh well, "motor cross" comes to mind but I don't think that's it. I'll search and think more as to where I read about the MX meaning.

maybe its the same as rotary experiment 7 (rx7) meaning mazda experiment 3, then mazda experiment 5, then mazda experiment 6?

Well I belive it because in Japan the RX-7 is also know as the FD ( props to initial D) LOL :D
