hatch is broken due to subs :) need help.

Post by solace »

I'm runnin 2 12" msx subs in a band-pass box firing upwards against the glass at roughly 600 watts, well, i think thats a bit much for my lil hatch because after i had ran my system harder than usual for a lil bit to show friends, i went to unlock the hatch with my key and it acted like the part that turns with the key wasnt connected to anything it just turned freely, i tried the hatch release from inside and it acted like it was already open but the hatch isnt opening, anyone know what specifically to check for, i have the piece off already that exposes the whole contraption of where the hatch locks down but dont know what im lookin for. Thanks for any help.

you might just have to try to climb in the hatch and see what the problem is sounds like the hatch lock is not engaging...
i dont think you 12 twelves did it because there are alot of people that run 2 12 inch sub and have never had that problem

jason
[ June 05, 2002: Message edited by: Custommx3 ]

well, i have climbed back there already numerous times and looked at the whole contraption and cant pick out whats wrong, as far as the cause of the prob, maybe it was on its way to breaking and the subs just gave it a lil head start cause it did it right after runnin them. I need to get it open though cause i want to get a custom box made but the store cant take the measurments until i get it open and i just thought maybe someone had a little exp in this particular prob, thanks tho, i will look at it again when it cools off outside.

it takes 2 ppl to open my hatch. One person has to continually pull the lever to open the hatch, and the other one has to *pump* the hatch to open in. But this is unrelated to my stereo cuz it was a problem when i bought the car. Also, if I put the key in the hole, it will bend the key and not move.

Well, the subs might have a little to do with it... i'm running 1300 watts to 2 12" subs in the hatch and the lock will not open with the key anymore, its like its jammed or something... broke the f---ing key once trying to open it... lol... it will open with the lever in the front though...
really don't know the actual cause for this...
just thought u'd enjoy me $.35 cents :)
