well i just got my viper alarm this weekend and i like it..but i need a trunk release..itll cost me a lot of money to get it installed professionally..just wanted to ask if this <A HREF="http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dl ... 1332426585" TARGET=_blank>power trunk release kit</A> from ebay will fit in our mx-3..and if its gonna be hard to install it..and if that product is worth buying..thanks alot in advance!!!

I have a power trunk release in my MX-3. That kit on ebay looks like it is the same one. Check out <A HREF="http://www.cammandoalarms.com" TARGET=_blank>www.cammandoalarms.com</A> to see if it is the same as the kit sold there. Don't pay more than $20 because it aint worth more than that.<P>It took me a while to figure out how to do the job but it is doable and works great on my MX-3. the only cosmetic problem I came across in my install is the plastic cover does not sit flush but it is not noticeable. I also put mine in without the switch so that the remote button is the only thing opening it or the leaver from inside.<P>I'm busy building my website/homepage based on my MX-3 and I have notes on how I've done stuff including the trunk release install with pics. So keep checking to see if my weblink is up. It will be soon.

I forgot to mention that you will need a relay between the trunk release unit and the alarm system, if the alarm does not have a built in relay for this. read the installation manual or ask the techs who put it in if there is a built in relay. Most likely there is not.

thanks for the info..i think imma get it soon..but did yours came with instructions or did you have to figure it out yourself?

I don't believe there were any instructions but I might be wrong. I had to figure out how to install it myself and took me the better part of an evening to do so. deciding how to put it in and how to mount it as well as how I was going to use it i.e. keep existing remote lever or trashing it and using the switch. I have instructions on my upcoming website which is almost complete and ready to upload to a server, keep checking under my profile if the link is available.
