Immboliser.
I've just bought an MX-3 and I'm thinking about upgrading the alarm. Does anyone out there know what alarms are fitted as standard with an MX-3. Unfortunatly I live in the uk, and its a UK spec so I appreciate people may not know..

Its an 1997 Mazda MX-3 1.8 V6.
I've been informed its got a CAT2 immboliser in it already.
Thanks for any help.
Dave.-

Re: Immboliser.
Aren't all car alarms universal? Of course the installations will have minor differences between cars, but it should generally be the same.
Re: Immboliser.
Most alarms are universal. I would make sure that the alarm you get covers all openings to the car. Alot of the basic alarms only cover doors and major vibration. (shutting the hatch, or something hitting the car) You need a sensor for not only the doors, but the hatch (when opened), and the hood (when it opens). When I first bought my car I had a basic alarm already on it. Before I could upgrade it someone broke into my car. They opened the hood and cut my battery wire. Even with a basic alarm you need a backup bettery so that wont work. I install raidos, alarms, and mobile video. All the time people are comming in who have alarms and everything in their vehicles got stolen and they all say the same thing "But I have an alarm". I told the last guy who said that to lock his doors, arm his alarm, and go inside the shop, and not to come out until he herd the alarm go off. By the time he came outside I had his car open, raido in my hand, and subs by the door. With no dammage to the car. Most dumb ignorant broke people who steal everything they have are not that smart.. But some are. You do lesser your chance of someone breaking into your car when you get the sensor that flashes in your winshield. People can see that and know you have an alarm. Most of the time they will keep walking.
