Over/Under

A lot of good points, particularly about tire profile series variations. My various tires are all 50 and 55 series and H to W Speed rated so kinda in the middle of the modern tire range but pretty low profile by the standards of when my cars were made. On these types of tires I usually start at arou...

Recommend a Mechanic in Toronto for Crank Sensor replace?

I have a done a search but haven't seen much. This is understandable given that much of what is being discussed is either by do it yourselfers or specialized engine swap stuff. Most of the major stuff that needs to be done on my car has been done, but I need to replace the Crank Position Sensor. I w...

I prefer those ove the stock 5 spoke me too If i ever decide to run my MX-3 in the summer, i will leave the winter tires on the stock GS spoke rims and buy something nicer. But rims seem to be a very personal thing. The wheels in that pic of the red MX-3 slightly resemble the Porsche Phone Dials wh...

Cheap mods to tone it down?

My new to me MX-3 has a dual tip exhaust that is unbeleivably loud. It is pretty funny but it could drive you insane. Others mentioned resonance between 2000 and 3200 RPM which is certainly true. Under load at those RPMs it is like a space shuttle taking off. It was installed two owners ago by Midas...

I got it!

Thanks to everybody who suggested various bits of help. I successfully got in through the fill hole. After tossing a 5/8 sheet of plywood under my jack I was able to jack the car up enough to get the jackstands in proper position. I bought a 23mm Socket, but the bolt was overtorqued and rusted. I ha...

V6 Manual Transmission Fluid Change and Speedometer Gear

I am a newbie, so please....mercy. I am trying to change the manual tranmission fluid on my 3 week old (to me) 1994 GS. I believe the current fill is about 2 years old. Shifts are a little rough and I figure that I will do a bunch of stuff that I would do in the next couple of years anyhow. I plan t...

195/60/15

195/60/15 will give you almost the same overall diameter and will not cause any issues. Was it the std size on the 4cyl MX-3? Most of the winter tires we are looking at are designed for Ice and frozen pavement more than deep snow. By droping down, the slightly narrower contact patch can help a littl...

Come April I will store it for the summer. My summer car has never seen winters

Oil Additives

Thanks slimmyslim and jschrauwen. If I knew anyone would pay attention I would have checked my spelling :o Actually I mainly responded because I saw slimmyslim's two bumps. I figured you really wanted some info. ikarus1 I agree with your Auto-RX reference and mentioned it in my post. Being a newbie ...

Smaller rims

If you don't have issues with clearing brake calipers, i don't see the problem. I would however get a higher profile tire on the 14s to achieve a similar overall diameter. Either way +/- 3% is no big deal. do a google search for tire size calculator and you can see how by going up a series or so in ...

Have a look at this thread

Was just posting in reply to amore generic question about oil additives: http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=47306 I would try the Auto-RX clean, if you think that your consumption is related to rings or seals. If you just have a ton of mechnical wear it will not help. A thicker oil may help....

Oil Additives

Lucas Oil treatments are not great. They have a tendency to foam, which is not what you want. Lucas Uppercylinder Lubricant is probably an okay fuel additive, but overpriced. Chevron Techron or Pennzoil Gumout Regane are better if you can get them. FP60 from Lubecontrol is better yet. Any of the PTF...
