In my case the orange wire (illumination/dimmer) had been wired into the red wire (12 Volt Ignition) on the wire harness side. Both of these wires were wired into the red wire (12 Volt Ignotion) coming from the deck. Everything should be color coded. Look for a connection where the colors do not lin...

On your suggestion I took a look at all the wiring and discovered that the new deck my freind had put in for me a few weeks ago was wired wrong. I could actually turn on the deck by turing on the park lights without the keys in the accessory position or for that matter in the car. Actually would hav...

Exterior 'park lights' will not turn off

My exterior park lights and interior dash/accessory lights will not turn off until I turn off the car completly. They turn on as soon as I start the car or turn the key to accessory. If I turn the light switch to turn on the 'park lights' and the interior/accessory lights, the lights become a bit br...

Ya I know the speakers are not the best quality but they are not the worst either. They sounded a whole lot better in the girlfreind's car then they do in the Mazda.

How would I check the phase on all the speakers?

Thanks for the suggestions. Ya the stock wiring is really poor, the wires are so thin so I may end up replacing the wiring. But it sounds like the biggest issue I have is the lack of bass and mid range these speakers can handle, a crossover is probaly a good idea. I have a 150 watt sub just a matter...

New Speakers Sound Worse than stock

I just recently installed a new deck (well a used Sony model # CDX-L350, which is rated at 4X50w, other than that I do not know much about the deck). I had the factory speakers all around and it sounded sub-par of course. I have just installed a set of 150 watt blaupunkt speakers in the rear (6.5'' ...

Yep, same oil I use in the car as what I put the dipstick in. Castrol High Milage 10W-30. Showed fine when I dipped it directly in the oil. Its a 92 with 250k on it so it may have had some engine work on it in the past and I do not know if during that process the dipstick tube was bent but it does n...

I decided to take out the dipstick and just put dip it into the remaining oil I had in a 1 litre container. I took it showed the same level on each side, so there was not a film on the dipstick. The only conclusion I can come to is that it is rubbing on the side of the dipstick tube when I pull it o...

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried inserting to dipstick every which way and it still does the same thing. I have been tempted to use a stop leak product as it bruns an amazing amount of oil (if the dipstick is correct) but after reading info off this site (thankfully) I never added anything. ...

I boung a mx-3 just over a month ago and I have that whole oil cunsumption problem with the stock v6. The car runs great but since it burns oil I have to keep an eye on the oil level. This is the problem. I can never get an acurrate reading on my oil dipstick. On one side of the dipstick it shows ov...

Ya I have heard good things about Synchromesh fluid. 2nd and third gear in my tranny are a bit rough when its cold so I double clutch until it warms up. I switched to synthetic but it was no better than what was in the car to begin with. Then I found this MX-3.com site, if I found it sooner I would ...

Gear Oil

I have read alot of comments about redline and Royal Purple gear oil but not many comments about Synchromesh gear oil (GM, Pennzoil, Quaker State brands). Is it safe to use Synchromesh gear oil in a manual transmission (these brands of Synchromesh gear oil only specify for use in GM and Chrysler) an...

Horn Relay

I have located the horn relay, but am unable to remove it. Does this slide right out or is there a clip/tab that is holding it in place?
