yup the clutch is hydraulic. Under the vaf there is a steel line that runs to the front of the transmission which activates a lever when you push in the clutch. That line may have broken somehow. if I remember correctly the rear exhaust manifold from the 1.8 has a egr hookup in the cast and is the one to use, but the front exhaust manifolds are the same.
