If the hole in the exhaust is close to the o2 sensor - air can mix with the exhaust and mess up the o2 readings. But if this is the problem it should happen mostly when the engine is warm. The fuel filter might have been clogged too - replace fuel filter and run some injector cleaner with the next f...

Voltage regulator is built into alternator - so the best bet is to replace the alternator with a v6 model (90 amps compared to stock 65 amps) - it will be cheaper than taking apart the stock alt and repairing it.

Every miata i have seen so far had coilpacks - they dont have a distributor per se - they have a (disty like) cam sensor mounted in the same spot.

The local mech guy at the mazda dealer swore that there are miata models without coilpacks....

If the spark plugs are not firing in cyls 1,3&5 - it would make sense to find out what the problem is with the distributor or other electrical sensor/system rather than replacing the pistons (which dont have anything to do with firing except they move when the sparkplugs fire and ignite the gas)...

For DOHC models 95-98 protege distys will be plug n play. Even miata models without coil packs should be plug n play. And there are plenty of them on ebay i think....

As far as I know, the only alternative is one from a miata. But with those you have to get the coil pack and find a place for it because it's not all together. Heard it's an upgrade tho because you can mount it away from the motor and keep the coil cooler giving better performance from it. 90-94 pr...

Just checking - is the HEI module grounded properly and does it have a good heat sink. Does it hot get hot when running? If yes - it needs to be grounded properly. If its not the HEI module - then look into the coolant thermo sensor and/or O2 sensors. Also when its in its no start condition - pull t...

I looked up the GM IAT sensor resistance values - it didnt seem to be compatible with what our ECU would be looking for.
The coolant temp sensor is also around $20 (in my case i had one lying around) and its made to be compatible with our ecu.....

Intake Air Temperature Sensor mod Since i have the (partial) obd2 ECU i can connect a laptop to the ECU and log a whole bunch of data while driving. I took a look at the data one day and realized that the intake air temperature reading was all over the place. There were no fault codes and the sensor...
