Anyway I am switching to synthetic oil from regular, my question is is there any special requirements when doing this or is it just a straight oil c...

Well after carefuinspection I determined that the alternator was bad, no juice to the battery at idle, a new alternator was purchased and installed and the light is now out.

Charging Light - Question

Well when it rains it pours, got my temperature guage working, it is the single lead sensor that runs the temp guage on a K-8 engine, now the alternator light is on. The connections are all good and when the positive on the battery is removed it dies, belt is tight and alternator spinning. Is there ...

Temperature Guage Woes

I changed my engine from a 92 to a 95 K8, the 95 does not have the second temperature sensor, so I drilled, tapped and installed one, now my fan works but the temp guage does not. I changed both the black and green sensor (both used) with no luck, as well as the guage. There are three items in the s...

Thanks for the input, I think ripping the entire engine apart again just for the pre-drilled hole is to much work, I was thinking I would go to the engine re-builders in Trenton and get them to tap a new hole, they do it all the time, so it should not be a problem. If they screw it up, then the big ...

Temperature Sensors - Tell Me Experts

I switched a 92 K-8 for a 95 K8 this weekend, when I was hooking all the sensors back up, there was one missing, on the 95 K-8 there was only one probe in the top of the engine, while the 92 had 2. The wires are the same colour for both on the 92, however the plugs are not interchangeable, now my te...

Engine Swap

After careful consideration I think I will purchase a used 1.8 vice a 2.5, I can get one from a 95 with 138000 km shipped for 550 CDN, with a 90 day garentee. My present engine after looking at the plugs is definately burning oil. I have never swapped an engine with this many connections, my last sw...
