I have seen these for sale and have wondered what the purpose is? I have seen like 6-8 of these wires all bolted to a metal circle and have wondered where this would go and why? Just never thought to ask.

Yes, please do keep us posted. You seem to have the best possibly setup to test this since your motor is rather clean. Sadly this day in age an extra 30-50mi out of a tank is alot. Also if it does keep your engine clean could be a very good thing.

Running the ground directly to the battery still didn't work. I did notice though that when I use the windshield washer fluid to clean the window that it gets even worse! Good luck! I haven't had to do any work on the car yet in the engine bay but it doesn't seem like much fun. At least there doesn't seem to be much room on the V6 model.

It is an aftermarket radio. I had it in my old car and never had any problems. The antenna and radio are grounded to the same place on the frame.
