Re: Protege-mx-3 bumper buyers
As far as the side skirts go, I have seen an Mx-3 that had some one-off custom sideskirts on it. They were very similar to a civic black widow kit and they were very nice looking. Just an idea.

Re: Texas Mx-3ers to meet?
Yes, I agree. There ARE alot of MX-3's here in Texas, but most of them are lazy asses. Good luck with your get together. I tried to organize one in August (which included drag races, car show, stereo competition, etc.) and only 1 other mx-3 showed up.

Re: Paint Job Finished
No sh!t....wet sanding is a real b---- isn't it? I mean, I wet sanded for a week (at night) before I was satisfied that it was ready for paint.

Re: I also finished my paintjob
Thanks. There is NO vinyl on the car anymore. The old paintjob was factory black with green vinyl racing stripes, but now.....all paint...including the eyebrows. And just so you people know, this is my WIFE'S CAR....I painted it for her birthday present.

Re: I also finished my paintjob
I repainted the entire car. I borrowed an air compressor from my grandad and my dad let me borrow his respirator and paint gun. The only cost to me was the paint (which was just under $600). I wet sanded the car with 320 grit sandpaper (using a DA sander) and then switched to a scotchbrite pad and e...

Re: I also finished my paintjob
Thanks. The paint was practically flawless until I had to remove the tape and shoot the clearcoat. Clearcoat is a huge PAIN to get right. If you do not shoot it heavy enough, it will look rough and grainy, which means to get it shiny, you have to put on a nice heavy wet coat.....which is prone to sa...

I also finished my paintjob
Here it is. It is not 100% perfect, but for my FIRST attempt at painting a car, I think it turned out ok.

Re: Fiberglass Supplies
I tried ONE time to work with fiberglass. I found that it is more difficult than it looks. I was trying to cut out a design in the cargo cover and then fiberglass it and it turned out terrible. I ended up wasting about $40 and 4-5 hours of time. I had a real problem with the fiberglass mat trying to...

Re: OKLAHOMA mx-3 meet !!!!!! AUG, 17TH
It seats 4 midgets nicely. Which equals 1 adult and 3 children comfortably. Which is the same as 2 adults and 2 kids somewhat comfortably. If you put 4 grown adults (any one of them being close to 6 feet tall), then it is downright horrible. I am so tall, that I have to give my seat a "gangster...

Re: A Tx Meet in May?
Sorry that you had to leave. We did not make it until about 3:00, but it seems that it is better than we DID show up late since no one else showed (except you and Mark..or Marc).
Here are some pics that I took at the races/show. The black/green MX-3 is my wife's (the one that I just finished paint...

Re: A Tx Meet in May?
Thanks. I got the colors put on and put the clear on. Normally I would be done, but I got some fisheye areas in the clear so I have to sand them off in the morning and then respray it. You will get to see it Saturday (as long as I get it done in time...which I am trying like hell to do).

Re: A Tx Meet in May?
Well, that is one of the OTHER things that is on the TO DO list. I have been working on the paint every chance I get. Since the MX is being painted, that leaves us with only 1 car and my wife has to take that to work, so I am stuck at home without a car. If you would like, I can send them image to y...

Re: A Tx Meet in May?
Cool! I will have my hands full getting the car ready. I am just about finished wet sanding it, then I will try to shot the colors on either Tuesday or Wednesday. So my paint will be VERY fresh by Saturday. Hope I don't F*** it up (since this is the 1st paintjob I have done). I am getting excited......

Re: painting car
The ONLY way that I would trust Maaco is if I did the prep work myself (sanding, masking, etc) and drove the car there on a trailer for them to spray the primer and paint. I think that they skimp out on the prep work and that makes the paint look bad and not stick worth s---. Plus, I am not sure if ...

WTF are you talking about Barry? I KNOW how to get the back ones off. If you READ the SUBJECT of this post, you would see that it says HOOD EMBLEM! As for double-posting, I KNOW you are not talking to me about that one, because I have not double-posted...ever. There was another topic that popped up ...
