I haven't taken it apart yet but from what I can see part of the gasket is hanging out from between the spacers and the intake manifold.

It seems to have blown in that spot but outwards which is odd, this being a vacuum and all that.

Not sure if that helps any

Well finally managed to have a good look at the problem and it seems that one of the gaskets on on my Thermo Block spacers has gone and is letting the air in :(

Anyone out there had a problem with these or am I just unlucky? Just seems like an odd gasket to go as I cannot imagine there is that ...

Yeah I had exactly the same problem and I just put electricians tape over the hole which worked fine until I got a new part. Just wrapped it round a few times and it was sorted. £65 from Mazda by the way but I wouldn't bother with the scrappy as theirs will probably crack when you try to take them ...

Damn you guys are good. Just popped the bonnet and I can hear air whisteling into the engine from somewhere so it looks like a vacuum leak somewhere down in the middle of everything. Just need to find it once the motor has cooled down.

Thanks for all the help.

Idle problmes

An odd thing has started to happen to my car over the last few days. In the past it has always ticked over at about 600 - 700rpm (starting of abouy 2500 when cold) but this week this seems to be randomly going up and back to normal. For example this morning after it has warmed up it idling at 1000 ...

Black Diamond Warping Problems

About 10 months ago, after finding out all my brake disks needed to be replaced I decided to upgrade to grooved disks and better pads. They were worn out by the way not warped.

In the end I fitted Black Diamond disks and pads all round. I have done about 5000 miles since then and the front disks ...

Sorry Guys,

Just read the message for John again and this is the tube he was talking about not the small ventilation ones I was looking at.

Well fingers crossed it looks like I've found the problem.

Thanks again

Well, I finally managed to have a look at the vacuum hoses and they all seem OK but I haven’t tested them yet. I need to convince my wife to sit in the car whilst I spray butane on them – not an easy job!

What I did notice though is that the concertina part of the air intake hose is has a 2” split ...

Thanks for all the help guys.

I've found the thread on checking the TB to VAF tube (eventually!) so I'll test that as soon as I get a chance and I'll let you know how I get on. From what you say it does sound like that is the problem - maybe it was damaged when I got my spacers fitted and it's ...

Hopping at low speed in 1st

Hi there,

I have an MX3 v6 and it has developed an odd problem over the last few days. When I'm in slow traffic I did just used to just put the car in 1st gear and it would pull along no problem with my foot off the gas at 500rpm. For the last few days when I try this as soon as it gets below ...

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think it's been cold enough here for temperature shock to have cracked it :(

So I take it I'm the only one out there that this has happend to. Do you think my bonnet is adjusted too low? How do you tell and how would I adjust it if it was?

Thanks again. :)

Cracked Headlamsps - whats up?

I noticed the other day that my passenger headlamp has cracked for no reason that I can see  . I cannot see any stone chips or anything it just seems to have cracked.

Looking though the receipts I got with the car it would appear that this is the 4th headlamp that car has cracked and there is ...
