i have noticed that since its been colder my car seems to be shifting better the only thing i can think of is that the gear oil is thickening up so maybe i do need to change it just a thought

if it revs to high for how fast you are going sounds like your clutch is slipping o2 sensor would account for bad fuel economy but wouldnt change the relation between rpms and mph... sorry

also if its a manual you should really look into a short shifter and some bronzeoil bushings to tighten it up

i have a 92 1.6 16v sohc should be the same in yours or you may have an 8v eighther way the engine really sucks if your looking for performance. but thier are a few things you can do. cold air intake, hotter plugs, bigger tb (thiers a swap list in the faq section), good set of wires, accel or msd co...

ive never had a problem with second but a cold front just hit texas and thismorning my first gear was fine but it was grinding into second until it warmed up. well i guess its still doing good for a tranny with 200,000mi on the clock. you think if i change the fluid it would help any? or is their an...

it shifts the same while the car is on or off so its probably time for a new tranny i guess.

its a not an interfierence engine if thats what u wanna know the timing belt could break and you still wouldnt have valve to piston contact thats the great thing about mazda :D

check compression mine did the same thing when i first got it turned out to be cracked intake valve i replaced it and lapped all the valves runs great now except for a bad o2 sensor. one way to tell is to stand behind your car with it on and see if you smell raw fule. good luck

i had the same problem with mine make sure it didnt come out of the back of your speedometer then check the drive gear in the tranny itself. the drive gear broke on mine it was a pita to fix cause it fell in the tranny its a $37 part from a mazda dealership. good luck
