I think it basically changes the overall length of the intake, keeping the air at a "resonant" state.. which basically means, you get more air flying through the air-in valves for more of the rev range = broader, more availble power band.

mine as i recall has no release for it??? mine must be the same as exdream_mx3's car, as like says (and displayed in page 76 of the S / body manual, it has these white pop clip things
