Crazy Idea to Get a BP plus tranny
I am swapping a 1.8 SOHC into my 92 rs because it is easy and I want to do it myself, but I had an idea for down the road if I wanted to upgrade to the DOHC 1.8 BP plus G series tranny. Here it is: Buy a 91-94 protégé lx with 50,000 - 80,000 for around $2500 (I have seen them on auto trader for arou...

Re: need motor
I have a 1.6 DOHC I will sell you. It has 70,000 miles on it and is from a 94 or 95 mx3 rs. I bought it from a local salvage yard to put in my 92 rs. I am not going to use it because of the differences in wiring between the DOHC and the SOHC. It does not have a Throttle Body but you can use the one ...

Re: Funny Ebay stuff
How the heck would a blower stay on your hood with 2 sided tape? You couldn't drive more than 45 mph. Here is a muffler that adds 15 - 20 hp!! It must have a turbo in it! ebay muffler I don't know how these people can sleep at night. Some poor guy new to tuning is going to bid on one of thes...

Funny Ebay stuff
I get a good laugh almost every time I do a search on eBay for mx3 stuff. Stupid things I have see include - some kind of jumper cable that adds 22 hp, all those stupid chips that add 20+ hp. I even saw one that was specifically for the MX3 and claimed to add 20-25 hp to the rear wheels. I had to se...

Re: interesting cam option
Does anyone know what that means for a SOHC engine. Is there an easy cam upgrade option avalible for either the 1.8 SOHC or the 1.6 SOHC?

Re: Pulleys for SOHC?
That is absolutely not true. I had to go through major headaches to find the right one for my 1.6 SOHC. Just take a look at the UR website. They have a different pulley for many of the B series engines, and the differences are not just in the belt types. <small>[ October 25, 2004, 07:13 PM: Message ...

Re: 1994 mx-3 engine swap
I have an engine from a 95 mx3 with 70,000 miles on it. I will sell it to you for $100 plus shipping. The engine was out of a manual tranny car but it would be easy to put into your auto. You would just have to use a few parts from the old engine. The engine I have is missing the Throttle body but y...

Re: Pulleys for SOHC?
I just looked at the 2 listings on eBay. I know for a fact that the information on the one being sold by "hmoi84" is wrong. The other one being sold by "delubozparts" is a pulley that I have never seen before. It looks like it might fit on a 1.6 SOHC without changing any other pu...

Re: Pulleys for SOHC?
The last 4 #'s on the pulley that I have are 0303. That should be all that they need at UR. I was told that the 1.6 DOHC mx3 engines have different types of pulleys depending on when they were made. Mazda switched them from 2 serpentine belts to 1 v belt and 1 serpentine belt in the middle of produc...

Re: Pulleys for SOHC?
The underdrive crank pulley that UR made for the 1.8 SOHC protege dx engine will work for the 1.6 sohc mx3 with some modifications. You will need to change out the pulley on the alt. and the water pump to the ones off the protege dx(not real hard to do.) They use a different belt type. Go to junk ya...

Thanks, I didn't mean to be critical. I just couldn't figure out what was up. If they are just really busy I can understand that.
