Re: Charlie's no budget mid engine build: *Codename:BlakBish
With the considerable forces acting to pull the wheel forward during acceleration or aft while braking would additional strength as seen in the below pic's double longitudinal support bars be a consideration? Notice that the design you posted doesn't use wishbone control arms, but each link has a s...

Re: Bleeding Clutch
It helps if you get the car on a nice steep side hill with the passenger side elevated to get the bleed nipple above the rest of the slave cylinder and then bleed.

awesome work man! Thanks! Very cool work! I see you have wytbushings in the control arms lol j/p The best part of the Vette suspension is there are limitless options in the aftermarket. I don't have to design bushings. Lots of people have already done it. With that rear suspension setup, it look li...

I would take a rad support too. And you could combine shipping with Diezzel to save yourself a few pennies.

Re: Rolling Chassis, no engine/trans
No you know what that totally makes sense. I've heard this many times over the years and lots of guys have said they had this happen but it never made sense. If the inner race is two pieces that would totally explain it.

Re: Rolling Chassis, no engine/trans
This is what the hub assembly looks like... http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff84/wytbishop/Picture1-1.jpg The Hub is blue, the bearing is grey, the axel stub is orange and the steering knuckle is black. Notice that the hub and inner bearing race don't touch anything but the axel stub. Even if the...

Re: Rolling Chassis, no engine/trans
They are not tapered. However the argument is that without the stub the hub is not properly supported in the spindle and the bearing receives too much lateral loading.

Re: Rolling Chassis, no engine/trans
In my opinion it's fine. Some people say that it damages the wheel bearings but that never made sense to me. The forces on the inner race are the same whether the axel stub is in the hub or not.

Re: Charlie's no budget mid engine build
Hey everyone, a little update. I have been working on modeling the rear subframe and suspension for about 4 months now. I believe I now have a concept that will work. The bellhousing and engine adaptor plate have not changed... http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff84/wytbishop/2PieceBellhousing.jpg ...

Re: lights dimming and odd idle(videos)
My first thought is that there is a short circuit somewhere in the brakelight wiring. Bhen you press the brake pedal and everything dims it seems like there is a large draw on the charging system. Your idle problem could be related, but also could be caused by a number of other things. A common caus...

Any engine shop with a hot tank will have the ability to do aluminum and your engine will be as clean as it can be. Period.

Re: Disabling ABS was the best "easy" mod ever!!!
Mike made a very important point. The ABS system is only intended to reduce stopping distance when conditions are slippery. When conditions are dry it has been shown to increase stopping distance. But all that aside the real point of the ABS system is to retain some "steerability" when the...
