Re: Dan's Boosted B6 MX-3 Project
The thing about that anti-drop bracket is that once the rubber has come apart int here you're losing all the anti-vibration that it was designed to provide. Mine fell a few years ago so I went to the wreckers and found that the Extension Bar is the same in all MX-3s and 2nd gen progetes. Part #23 in...

Re: kulluminati777's Dead Carcass
Yeah you couldn't really do much better for a helping hand than Dan. Head gasket is actually a pretty easy fix. You just have to make sure that you do all the little things right and it'll last another 20 years.

Re: The Ultimate Guide to Suspension and Handling
I was also questioning the wisdom in telling people to er on the stretched side when selecting tires and wheels, but I did a bit more poking around. The concensus from what I'm reading is that slight stretching increases responsiveness from the tire but does sacrifice some mechanical traction. It ma...

You wouldn't have a used copy you'd sell me would you?Ryan wrote:RCVD by Milliken. That is all.
I wouldn't trust a drifter about suspension setups.... drift is not racing. Drift is not fast.

The Ultimate Guide to Suspension and Handling
No...I am not going to try to write a suspension guide. But I have been doing a lot of reading on the subject nad came across this series of articles in Sport Compact Car magazine and have found them very interesting and insightful. A lot of the writing is intended for drifters but the basics of sus...

Re: Running without coolant to Throttle body/plenum?
It's all about pressure CHANGE , not ambient pressure. But yes this is actually....I would guess...a bigger problem at temperatures above freezing because air at or around 0ºC has very little moisture in it. CrazyCanadian's information is much more helpful to me though. Understanding how that system...

Re: Robs '95 RS Car is toast
Once the main fuse is popped, there's not much that can happen. Power goes from the battery +ve stright to that fuse. No fuse, no go. Did you ever accidentally touch the rad support with a wrench while disconnecting the Alternator main power? Exactly the same effect as bridging the battery. That's w...

Re: Running without coolant to Throttle body/plenum?
Here is the Cole's notes version of the science... Air contains moisture. Warmer air is able to hold more moisture than colder air. This is why water condenses on windows when it's cooler outside than it is inside. Warm moist air hits the cool glass, temp goes down, it can't hold the moisture and th...

Re: Robs '95 RS Car is toast
He probably blew a fuse, either the main fuse or the FI fuse. If the harness was destroyed every time someone accidentaly grounded out their battery there'd be a lot more dead cars in the world.

Re: Running without coolant to Throttle body/plenum?
Again, it's not about the temperature of the air so much as the change in pressure as it enters the engine. Honestly I don't think icing would be a common problem for most of us regardless of climate. I think the magnitude of the effect of having the coolant lines disconnected from the TB is going t...

Re: WTB Rear hatch windshield wiper switch!
It is extremely unlikely that Mazda would install different wire harnesses just because of this function. Look at the harness connection where the hatch meets the body up by the hinges. I'm sure it will match the RS body and I'd also bet that the wiring esists in the steering column too. I bet if yo...

Re: 1993 MX3 heating issues
Your thermostat is stuck open. I did once have to replace my stat in my first MX-3 several times (it was a DOHC 1.6L)...I don't remember the exact cause of problem or what my symptoms were, but I do recall going through several in a short period of time.

Re: need exhaust system, low on money
Allow me to rephrase. I have not personally had a discussion, or given advice to a single person who chose to run their stock exhaust post swap and I've never heard anyone who had to for any length of time suggest that it was doing anything but absolutely crushing the performance of their swap. I di...

I don't know of anyone who drove post-swap for any length of time on the stock exhaust.

Re: Running without coolant to Throttle body/plenum?
People who experience wierd idle problems like the one Blake described are often suffering from low coolant. Because the TB is the highest point in the cooling system if you're low, an air pocket will form there and the thermowax cools enough for the little piston to crack your throttle plate. Rev i...
