Re: stock injector size??

there is something called an air fuel ratio, and there is a point, around 13.0:1 where you can make the most hp. by throwing fuel at a car that by no means needs it, you will only be loosing power. you will make the maximum possible power when there is JUST the right amount of fuel coming in for the...

Re: stock injector size??

what do you need bigger injectors for? the 330's from the probe/mx6's (or 310's from the 89's and earlier) are way too much injector for any n/a mx3 i used to own a probe gt, and the 330's were able to support me when i was doing 220whp and 294ft/lbs all it takes is to bring up a lot of pressure ont...

Re: bp dohc bolt up?

meh, if i have to invest in a new harness, and if the auto tranny doesnt sound very promising with this setup, then i think ill pass. i thought it would be straight plug and play with this engine whatever, the stock sohc suits my gf fine, and atx is the only option for her, because stop and go traff...

Re: bp dohc bolt up?

ok, well i checked out the bp dohc sitting in my crate today. it has all the accessories already bolted up, and belts are all there, its ready to go. if go through with this swap, it will sure be nice driving around with a new motor only two things remain in my mind: 1) this is gonna be bolted up to...

Re: bp dohc bolt up?

yea, i have no intention of switching the crank pullies
im gonna inspect the bp in the crate a bit more thoroughly, and if i end up doing this swap, i will see whats the easiest and simplest thing to do

just nice replacing that old sohc with a fresh 0km bp in her car.

Re: bp dohc bolt up?

ok, so if the brackets bolt up, then so do all the accesories. only thing that will be different is the crank pulley. so in that case, why do you need a new alternator and belt? just re use everything from the sohc, as long as the crank pulley is more or less alike if not, i will just swap pulley's ...

Re: bp dohc bolt up?

ugh... so if the bp i have sitting in a crate doesnt have any of the accessories already on it, i will have to go and purchase new brackets and accessories as well? i was hoping it would be similar to the swap in my car. i have a first generation ford probe gt (i.e. mx6) i got a jdm motor called the...

Re: bp dohc bolt up?

what about wiring harness and ecu. will they connect to the bp dohc as well? did the bp's use a vaf as well to measure air intake? this is just for a daily driver with fuel economy in mind, so performance and what not isnt a bit concern. how much more power can be expected out of this motor? any iss...

i got a crate engine on my hands, and its obviously mazda, but the valve cover says ford. markings on it have "bp dohc" so im assuming its a 1.8 that was in an escort or something. so i was wondering, would this bolt into my gf's 1.6 sohc chassis. mainly, are the motor mounts and transmiss...

Re: how to check timing?

well the car is well maintained, and everything appears about right, so my intention is to put a timing light on it, and check how its running, whic takes all of 2 minutes to diagnose therefore, like many efi cars, there is usualy some kind of sti or harness connector you have to ground, jump, or di...
