Re: Transmission Problems!!!!!!!!!!!!
TC's can also "burn out", in a matter of words, but that is much less likely than clutchpack failure etc. Another fun fact is upgraded TC's usually raise the heat of the fluid, which is our #1 enemy. Not saying you shouldn't get one, I want one, but just somthing to think about and make yo...

Re: Transmission Problems!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just to quote prices, I had my good ATX sapped into my SE for $350. It was gonna be $250, (6% tax included in all figures), but when removing the good tranny from the dead MX, we flubbed up the shift cable. (read - cut it, then burned it th rest of the way in half with a blowtorch, LOL) They had to ...

Re: strongest auto tranny setup to fit sohc?
The stock ATX will not handle that for too long, from just about any Mazda. I suggest if you would like to stay ATX to upgrade through www.levelten.com and/or www.protorque.com Despite popular beleife, these trannies - be them poorly designed and weak, can handle some power, if prepped and handled c...

Re: aftermarket torque converter
The kits, if you guys are talking of what I think, are not universal. They usually consist of new/different gaskets/seals - specific to the tranny in hand. L10 is good stuff. What you heard is probably trashtalk. Also, try www.protorque.com (I believe that's the link) They do only TC's at the moment...

Re: Tranny #3
Yeah.. back when I was just a lad of 18, LOL, (I'm 22 now ;) ), my Mom insisted my car go to the shop for what I'd diagnosed as the distie. I couldnt do anything aobut it. They did alot of stuff they didn't need to, (like saying they checked ALL the wiring in the front of the car), and ripped us off...

Re: Automatic Transmission Problems
the transmission is designed by a CO. called JATCO. they suck, that's about all you need to know about them as a CO, lol. Can't remember who actually assembles them, but I think it could be Nissan or somebody off the wall. Still, it's design flaws, not build flaws that hender the F4LA-EF, and all it...

Re: Flashing Hold light!
Actually the Torque Converter is alot more robust than the actual transmission. My bet is failing clutchpacks. Also could be somthing as simple as a VSS - Vehical Speed Sensor. There's a way to flash ATX codes via the hold light, but at the moment I can't remember which two pins to jump in the diagn...

Re: my car shakes and makes a loud noise inside the car
OR trashed engine and/or tranny mounts. One of the two mounts on the ATX is known to rip fairly easily. check the engine/tranny mounts for rips/wear etc.

Barry is right. I'd bet you don't know what impedence your reciever is set to run, and that it doesn't have a selector or a safety for if you hook up the wrong stuff. In short, if you run the wrong stuff long enough, you will burn it up. I've seen people do what you're wanting and have things work o...

Re: My MINI has finally arrived!
Uhmm, the MX3 is EXCELLENT in the snow. Maybe not with lowering springs, poor tires and/or somebody who doesn't know what to do with it, but if it's not lowered, has decent radials and somebody with knowledge behind the wheel, it's hard to beat it for a small FWD. I've taken two of my three GS's thr...

The mock-ups look absolutely great man. Would it be hard to stick that hood design on an MX with stock bodywork, for all us that are too poor/prefer mostly stock lines?<BR>Thanks,

Re: Finally getting somewhere on the CF hood project
I'm highly interested, but if it's going to be just a one-off item, I probably shouldn't be counted. I currently have some parts of my car that HAVE to get fixed, before I can even think about aftermarket, so I won't be able to put down the $400 or so. I also really like the idea of an inverted scoo...
