Re: Question about compression

Ok, thanks for the detailed answer ;)
The reason i asked in the first place is because i crashed the main bearings on my stock motor and got a new DOHC very cheap, and that one is tested to be at 14:1 on all cylinders. Getting that one installed this week so i can finally get out on the road again.

Question about compression

Hi all, just wondering about compression in engines, what's better, high or low compression?

Edit: also what would be considered a good compression for my DOHC?

I have to replace my current engine since it's bascially dead, i got one that's exactly the same as the one i have, this leads me to believe i should be able to change it myself, but since i'm not experienced with car engines im not 100% sure. The o...

Re: Wierd noise coming from motor

Just wanted a little more info on this to make sure that it's actually the main bearings that are the problem. Before i only had this noise coming when i was accelerating, but now it's whenever i turn on the engine, i havent used the car for a few days but i went out to check something today to try ...

Swap from 4cyl SOHC to KL-ZE?

Hi, was just wondering if it's possible to swap from a SOHC to a KL-ZE? I saw the engine swap info and it was only listed under V6 engine swap.. also if it's possible will it work on a 5-switch manual? It says under the KLZE info that it only comes from automatic transmissions.. And finally, what's ...

Re: Wierd noise coming from motor

Yeah i was counting on that i had to pull the engine out and do some work on it.. as long as i dont have to replace it, because i have no money left right now so i have to get together what money i can to just fix this engine.. In the future when i have some money stored up i think im gonna look for...

Re: Wierd noise coming from motor

Another little update.. now that i know the english word for the faulty part ;)

It's the main bearings that's gone bad, and from a little looking around these should be replaceable without changing the whole engine wich is a good thing for me!
Anyways, is this a hard procedure?

Yeah the metallic blue should be lighter, and also this color is shifting between blue and purple depending on the light wich makes me even more sure that it's not metallic blue.
