For shocks I'd go with the ZX2 struts. I've not heard of them having many problems. Remember that the ZX2 struts have to be modified to fit the MX-3. So that perhaps the "problems" that people have experienced were caused by poor craftmaship of the mod.??? right, in the early days, you ha...

lol...ya, cause i feel the ZX2 struts are much better and you save cash. Dunno whos blowing em up, but i used the ZX2's for autox for 2 years, abused the crapola out of them and they still run duty on a buddys autox car today. The ppl that i know using them for autox and some track runs, have been p...

that $160 price is for all 4, not each. the shorter shaft stroke does not lower the car. The perch is still in the same position as stock. It just allows the strut to have a better working range, and not be constantly at or near the bump stop limits. The upper perches are identical, for the exceptio...

ok, well the easy way is to go with coilovers. They offer you the choice of any spring rate you desire and can be set at stock height. A spring rate slightly higher than stock wouldn't kill the KYBs but they would reduce their lifespan. Otherwise, the next option is to get a spring that has the leas...

you are correct, the KYBs are a stock replacement strut. but as for springs, since you don't want performance springs, are you looking for other stock springs that fit the MX3? Other springs that fit are: 90-94 Protege/323 (slightly softer) 91-96 Escort/Tracer (slightly stiffer than the Protege/323,...

They are decent, but i found the ZX2 S/R struts to have better valving and matched much better to the H&R springs. The thing with the Blues, is that they are designed with the stock spring, they only offer about 10% increased stiffness over stock. That does not give much room at all for higher s...

Strut bars do nothing for body roll. They stiffen the chassis and reduce flex and inherent camber/caster changes under hard load. With soft street springs or few susp. mods, tower bars don't offer a whole lot, but when the susp. has more mods they become more benficial. Sway bars will offer much mor...

you can save about $40 going with the Zx2 S/R Struts. Even with the little extras needed to fit them. All ya need is a 97+ Escort/ZX2 thrust bearing and 97+ Upper perches. Bearings are about $35 from any Ford Dealer and the upper perches are a few bucks at a local salvage yard. IMHO, the KYBs are me...
