Re: sub break in period

BTW Darren, what size and impedance of MTX 6000 are you using? I just built a ported box for someone's 12" 4 ohm 6000 last month. Maybe I can run some numbers and see what I come up with. Also, what amp were you running to it, and what size are the chambers in the box that they keep breaking in...

Re: sub break in period

Well, in a decade of car audio, I've never, ever, ever, ever blown a sub. Never broke in a sub before. I'll let my track record speak for itself.

Re: sub break in period

If your installer can't name at least 7 different Thiele Small parameters (i.e. FS, CMS, RE), walk away, and find someone who does. And make sure the installer has his own box modeling program. Some installers will just put it in a manufacturer recommended enclosure. While that might be OK for some ...

Re: K&N air filter????

I think he's talking about the stock, stock air box. You know, the plastic box intake? K&N makes just OEM filter pads that use the cotton media with the K&N media oil. It supposedly flows more air that your standard like Purolator or FRAM filter. You should be able to find one for closer to ...

Re: sub break in period

A break in period is really unneccesary. It's one of those car audio myths that keeps getting passed around for some reason and never seems to stop. All that will change with break in is the Thiele Small parameters will change ever so slightly, but not enough to make a difference with power handling...

Re: Anyone else on here have 15" subs?

I've got a Crystal CMP 15" I'm working on installing right now, along with the front stage install.
I think the final enclosure volume will probably be up around 5 cubes or so, and it'll be ported to 20 Hz or so.
Screw TV's in my MX3. If I get a TV, it'll go in the 626 for long hauls for th...

Re: Anyone else have insane oil consumption?

Something's fu-bar. I've never had a car eat a noticable amount of oil before. And I've had plenty of cars over 100K miles, and I've ever owned an f'ing Yugo. If it's sipping oil, I'd say you've either got a bad gasket or bad rings.

Re: Steering Wheel adjustment

Are you sure? It would be odd for a top-of-the line V6 model to not have it after it being standard for all the preceeding years. I know it's a little tricky to find on the MX-3. It's not the typical lever on the side, it's a handle dead center on the underside of the steering column. You can't see ...

Re: Stupid Clock

There's probably a fuse out on the memory power lead.....that's my guess. Just like a CD player that has two power leads - one for memory, and one for power on - I bet the clock is set up like this too.

Damned. And I just let my subscribtion lapse. Does it at least have kicks and good gear, or is it a bling-bling 20 video monitor install like I've been seeing for the last few years?

Re: I HAVE A TON OF LITTLE THINGS STILL FOR SELL FROM MY MX-

I need a black seat belt holder that holds the lap belt in place at the side of the seat......for the driver's side in black. It's only on the versions with the guillotine automatic safety belts. I think 92 and 93 without airbags are the only ones with them.
