Re: Carbon fiber hoods getting cheaper?
Well, it'd only cost me $30 in gas to drive back and forth to LA, so I guess it'd be cheaper for me. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Shift knob adjustment and removal.
Is there a trick to shift knob adjustment and replacement?
First off, my knob has been loose since I bought the car. I want to tighten it for now but can't figure it out. I tried twisting it on, but it just turns the whole shift boot with it.
Also, have a new shift knob in the mail and want to r...

Carbon fiber hoods getting cheaper?
I swear to God these things were $100 more just last week:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33646&item=2425837775
At this price, it's cheaper than buying a new hood and getting it painted.

Re: Power Window Lock Bypass?
IF you accidentally hit the switch now ( as I do too....ALLLLLLLLLL the time) you might not want to set it up for anything else. Could you imagine if you set it up for say a nitrous activation switch???? You go to roll down your window at the drive through, hit the NOS, and go rocketing past the dri...

Re: k8 turbo yes or no?
I forgot about the intercooler......but theoretically, you can run without one at light boost. But when you do get one, those things are crazy expensive. I'd see if you could find one of those used (but in good condition) too. As long as the fins are all straight, it's kind of hard to get an f'd upi...

Re: Alternator replacement
Drop it which ever way there is clearance. But it's definitely the alternator that's bad. Your engine should be able to run just fine without a battery if your alternator is in good condition and you aren't running any accessories. But your battery is probably fu-bar now, too. Once you fully dischar...

Re: k8 turbo yes or no?
If you are going with a relatively light boost, you might be able to get a turbo from a scrapped motor pretty cheap in good condition. Last year, by brother-inlaw's neighbor was doing a turbo project. Came back from the junkyward one day with a T28 from a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T. Was pretty much mint sinc...

Re: sub break in period
After a closer look, if those are 10" subs, then they appear to be about 15" cubes. Assuming 3/4" wood, then you'd have about 1.4 cubes per chamber.
He'd need about 23" of 3" port. He'd need to put a bend in. He should be able to find some 3" PVC at a hardware store a...

Re: Coolant Question?
Probably water wetter. That's the current fad in coolant.
I'm just using mostly water with a 15% coolant level instead of the normal 50%. I figured since I live in Nevada, I'm not worried about the coolant freezing. The 15% mix sould cover me in the winter here, even if I go into the mountains.
...

Re: sub break in period
Those boxes look pretty big for those particlar sub. I bet you can keep those boxes and just throw a port in those. If you can get the exact internal dimensions, then I should be able to model up what port dimesions would be best to modify those enclosures for more power handling and a little more o...

Re: sub break in period
OK. After running it, I've found that even in a smallish 1 cubic foot sealed box, it still would only be able to handle about 150 watts below 40 Hz. Not very much.
However, if you put it in a 1.5 cube ported box tuned to 23Hz, you'll get the full 250 watt power handling down to 20 Hz. There is a s...
