KL-01 "L" code cams

So I bought some of these camshafts for my little K8 engine and I was just wondering a few things before the install. I've read posts on this board saying that the intake cams would be and increase but the exhaust cams wouldn't work well with the K8. So I'm asking the proffesionals(You guys) wheathe...

Re: Modifications???

Ok, so the K8 is unknown as far as its potential is concerned. Thats fine, i'll just have to find out myself some day. So i'll ask a couple other questions. -How big are the stock injectors? -Whats the stock hp of the k series 2.0? Well i guess i just had the question about the injectors, thought i ...

It'll just pull off. Might stick a little, so just pull harder. :)

Re: my dyno runs from today

98!? Thats awsome if the knock sensor advances the timing that much. Whats the max octane that could be run before it stops helping?

Re: Put your thinking caps on for this one!

When mines cold it idles at 2000rpm also. But when it warms up it drops down to 600-700 and the car runs fine. If these engines aren't supposed to rev that high cold, you may be looking at 2 different problems. But I would agree that your thermostat is probably sticking.

K8/Kl

Ok, since everyone is swapping engines all over the place with these cars I've got to ask a few questions. 1)Did they use the same block for the KL and K8? Just asking because they weigh close to the same(or so everyone says) 2)How much can the K8 be bored out before the block won't hold up anymore?...

Re: nothing you have heard of before, trust me!

Ok, i mighta shot my mind off a little bit there with that last post. Comparing one of nissans best engines to the K8 may have been a little unorthadox. However, i don't see why 400hp would be to much for that thing to handle. I also didn't realize that you could do an engine swap for $1200. I can't...

Re: nothing you have heard of before, trust me!

I just gotta ask why everyone on this board hates the k8 so much? Its a very fast engine, reving easily to 7500rpm. If guys can take nissans CA18DET, and tune it to crank out well over 600hp, i don't see any reason why it can't be done with the k8. In fact, i bet it'd be faster than the 2.5 that all...

Re: horsepower with addons

Anyone on here in a position where they would be able to fabricate and tune some headers for the K8? Be a good way to make some coin, and i bet it would make a LOT of people happy. Just a thought.

Re: I got a BIG question, don't laugh if it's a stupid one

I was under the impression that all FWD cars were equiped with a LSD. Guess i was wrong. But ya, basically if the mx-3's don't have LSD's, then they drive with power to both wheels except for when you turn and when you spin off the line in a race. Then the power gets distributed to the one tire and ...

I'd say your thermostat needs replacing. That or your coolent levels are low.

Re: Bad shifting, need input

I agree with quinn. Definatly syncros. They are the part in your clutch i beleive that match your gear speed with your engine speed so you can go into gear easier. If they are wore out, the only way you can get into gear is either with a LOT of grinding, or matching the engine spead with the gear bo...

Re: Where's all my coolant going?

If your exhaust is white, you most likly have a cracked head. If thats the case, i can't see it being a cheep fix knowing how much the head gaskets cost. A bad head gasket i don't think will leak coolent into your engine, but will blow air into your coolent system. Once again, just throwing out some...
