thanks yall! the problem ended up being much simpler, it was my clamps on the battery.

i have a 94 mx-3 and it died on me 3 days ago. we tried to jump it off, sat there for about 30-40 minutes and it wouldn't start. so i bought a new battery. the lights and everything inside the car come on, but when i turn the key, it all goes black and then it tries to power back up the lights again...

i had the same problem, it would go from my alternator belt to my power steering belt. i probably have put ten or more belts on. two weeks ago a mech. wire brushed the pulleys and they have been great since!!
