Idle Problem Fixed

About a month ago I posted a question regarding unstable idle and poor performance going up hills. Here is the fix I found. It appears the last time I had my timing belt changed, the "clown" that did the work had it off the timing mark by one tooth. After the belt cover and all other parts...

Re: Gutless Going Up Hills

Thanks for the comments. I sure like the car and now after 10 years and 180,000 miles I would like to get a little zip back in it's performance. I guess now it's a question of how much money I am willinig to spend.

Re: Gutless Going Up Hills

I know the little engine is not a powerhouse, but it seems to me to be acting worse now then past experience. In addition I do not know what you suggested. I am unfamiliar with the terms. Thanks.

Gutless Going Up Hills

My 1992 MX-3 4 cyl has become "gutless" going up hills. I have to down shift to 4th and keep the gas pedal down to the floor just to go 40MPH. I'm stuck in the slow lane while other 4 cyl vehicles "fly by." The car runs and sounds OK on flat ground. Has this happened to anyone el...

Re: Cleaning Headlamps?

For the individuals who are "thrifty" and still need to fix the problem of "yellow" headlight lenses, a polishing paste can be made with baking soda and water.

Re: What do RMS ratings mean exactly?

"RMS" is an electrical term meaning "Root Mean Square." It describes the type of math equation used to determine the "real" output. RMS is the more "truthfull" rating of any electrical output of variable voltage and frequency over time. Some people who want to...

R-134a Conversion Problem

After converting my 1992 4 cyl MX-3 to R-134a, versus R-12 in the AC system, it started the "hunting" idle problems others have had. Since R-134a has a higher pressure at operating temp than R-12, the load of the compressor at idle is much higher than stock R-12. Combining this with an ele...
