Re: more kl swap questions...

I already have the kl torn down so replacing the coolant pipe will be easy as pie :P Thanks for the exhaust tip. I think I'm going to get custom split square headers and run my exhaust square till the cut out. I just wish I had more money for colt cams :crying:

Re: more kl swap questions...

I love the engine light :freak: it's my best friend! I'll just leave it. I am cleaning the bay right now and it's actually not that bad. It's gonna take a day or two to get the klze ready to drop in (tight schedule with ...other things..) I think I will be posting diagnosis questions once it's in. I...

Re: more kl swap questions...

I don't have to worry about emissions at all, so can I get rid of the EGR all together? I have the kl01 heads. I am going to straight pipe the exhaust (well... I want to keep the mx3 muffler, long story) and it's going to have a cutt-out right after the headers join. And I am going to swap the k8 co...

more kl swap questions...

So I am almost done putting together my kl (millenia I think it's 95 or 96) and I have a few questions: 1. Water temperature sensors. There are two three holes on my k8 and one on my kl. I have the KL36 ecu. Will this need those other sensors or will it be fine with just the one? 2. Intake issues. A...

Re: Camshaft Question

I am absolutely broke :crying: That is a very nice price, but I would rather deposit that 50 into colt and use my k801 cams. Thanks for the offer though! Is there anything I special I should know before I stick these babies in like the other ones?

Camshaft Question

How well do the k8 cams work in the jspec millenia? I cracked 421 in half... but I have a whole set of the k8 cams =]

So when I stick my newly rebuilt KL in, what break in oil should I use?

Re: KLZE? Or What?

This engine is going to be destroyed over and over and rebuilt probably two to three times a year depending on how well the season goes. I would just like to replace most things before I drop it back in the car and put it on the tuner. (hoping to go MSII before then end of the year.) I'm hoping to s...

Re: KLZE? Or What?

How much of a difference does changing them out make? I would like to redo valves and lifters as well. How much does it affect engine longevity to replace them?

Re: KLZE? Or What?

I found a spring and retainer kit for the kl. I don't know how much they normally are, but is $45 a good deal?

Re: Engine Removal

I heated mine up with a propane torch for a minute or two and used a truckers torque wrench. I use it as my breaker bar because it's near impossible to break it and it's huge. It was pretty difficult but I'm not a little guy (squatted 1000 at the gymn the other day actually :freak: video on my faceb...

Re: KLZE? Or What?

Sounds like a plan :) I will do an all out rebuild after I'm out of college though. PhD in chemistry is the plan and it's going great so far. So, I will just re-gasket and zoom around in a ze with de cams and work on the body till I have my career going :) Thanks for the advice!

Re: KLZE? Or What?

So, where to find colt cams? I think I'm going to try and go all out rebuilding this over the next few months. My wife is finicky about how much goes into savings so I've got somewhat of a choked money supply. But, I can slowly get each part, just not all at once. Ok, colt cams, what's next?

Re: KLZE? Or What?

Useful information! I'd say it's worth at least .03. I am replacing just about every gasket possible. And what is a price on kl31 cams? And does anyone know about the colt cams? I know kl01 are best for low end torque while the kl31 have high end torque.* What are the colt cams for? Ha Ha, funny... ...
