Easiest 2.5 swap

From what I have read on here, a swap from a 92-93 Probe or a 91-93 MX6 is the easiest swap to do. I would need the engine, the ECU and the air thing AIF(?) I know there are other things I would want to upgrade like the exhaust etc but I like the fact that all of the sensors and wires are a direct b...

rear seat belts won't go back up

When I replace my rear struts the rear seat belts went all the way in and now they won't come back out. Not a huge deal as no one has ever sat in the back but it would just be nice to have it work right.

4cyl radiator in a v6

I have a 92 v6 5spd and I had a surprise the other day and looked under my car to discover the radiator was leaking. I can't find any 6cyl in the junkyard but I found one that looked new in a 4cyl. When I looked at it it seemed like it would fit and most things lined up but I might have to drill a h...

Re: MPG after wheel/tire swap

The escort rims are 18lbs according to online sources. My old 215 45 17 were much wider and apparently heavier. Another factor is the weight tires as well as the wheels. Wish I had about $800 for some light weight aftermarket rims. And yes my point WAS skinnier tires inflated to a higher psi will gi...

Best manual trans fluid for mpg

Anyone try running thinner or synthetic gear oil? I believe the book said it could run on atf or gear oil.

Does anyone make a gauge that talks to the computer that can calculate instantaneous mpg?

Re: V6 fuel mileage

I usually run my cars at 40 to 44psi. You can expect 5-10% better mpg than running at say 35psi. When I ran my Cobalt at 44psi (a little harsh) and drove on a smooth road at 45 mph the gauge in the cobalt would read close to 60mpg.

MPG after wheel/tire swap

I recently swapped a set of escort zx2 wheels and a set of used Michelin tires 195 60 15. My mpg has improved from about 26 to 31. The 5.5" escort wheel the tire is skinnier than a stock 6" which makes the tires closer to 185. Also, I have inflated the tires to 44 psi. I have not driven th...

Search funtion

I wish the search function allowed you to search by specific areas, for example when I look up 5 speed I want to search only in the transmission area. Also it doesn't seem very friendly using the quotes.

Glad I went with the factory setup, guess I better get another mx3 just for going fast around corners on the weekend.

Escort ZX2 S/R struts

I found this information on wiki's escort page: The optional (Escort ZX2) S/R package adds stiffer suspension parts (Eibach springs (M-5560-Z2), Tokico struts (M-18000-Z2) and Energy Suspension brand polyurethane suspension bushings... This would lower the car a bit and stiffen it up, I wonder how i...

Re: Ford escort ZX2 rims

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g345/dang10010/mx3/IMG473.jpg I found a nice set of used Goodyear Eagles 195 60 15 and put them on the escort rims, if you look closely you might see the mazda centercaps. The car rides much nicer now, not harsh at all. Now it feels like I have new struts in the ...
