The best thing to ask is were the spark plugs coverd in oil when you pulled them out. This would be the first inidcation that a ton of oil drained into the combustion chambers when you changed the plugs.

If he does the job right though it will stop the rust. You could see about having him just paint the section and match up the paint, with computer technology paint matching has come long ways and can be very accurate.

Re: 1.6 motor with a 1.8 liter head.

I am rebuilding my 4 cylinder engine. By the way I just bought this car used. Well any way I am rebuilding it and putting the head back together I noiced the head did not match what the Hanes book showed to be 1.6 but it showed the head to be 1.8. One side does not hace the springs to push the rock...

I do not remember off the top of my head if the protege one will swap in although I tend to think it wont. MX-3s have an odly shaped radiator if my memory serves correct. The V-6 is not interchangable, although i fully expect if you look around you might be able to purchase an OEM replacement from o...

Its possible you did not tighten the plugs enough as well, letting any oil that would be leaking in down into the chmaber. Keep in mind plugs do not need to be super tighter and over tightening a plug is a VERY bad thing.

If its lasted that long you have gotten more than your moneys worth. Higher grip clutch materials often wear out faster, this stresses the need to be sure to pick an application that is right for you but not overkill. If its what you need though and you liked the performacne of what you had then i w...

How long has your car been smoking? One of the common things that can happen is that oil will build up in the plug hole, when you remove the spark plug it drains into the combustion chamber. Once you start your car it will start to burn the oil and will smoke for however long it takes to burn off th...

Your belt was too lose, buy a new one, odds are you have done enough damage to the current one to warrent replacing it. Edit: Oh and before you drive your car around, pop your hood and be sure your belt is still there. If its not DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR. The same belt that turns your alternator turns ...

You have to do a LOT more than that. You will have to look into turbo kits on your own. a BPT comes turboed but turboing a non turbo BP will net more power.

You will hear a few diffrent figures from people on the power, most just round it to 180hp though. The motor does not care if the car is AWD, FWD, or RWD, the transmission does that. You can get a FWD transmission from a protege or even use your stock on. The B series blocks are all basically them s...

Yes there is a tensioner. ITs best to purchase a whole kit and replace them as well. The whole timing assembly-- belt, tensioners, and water pump, are all developed with the same lifespan in mind. So when one is going to go, the others are likly about to as well.
