guages, warning lights, rear wiper/ defog, etc. HELP.
Has been a while since I last visited the site due to deaths in the family and other instances. I see there have been many changes, some good, some not so good.....such as only being permitted to post new topics in certain areas......At any rate I am not so sure if I am in the right category but aft...

Re: aluminum rims
Phosphoric acid is what I need...the same ingredient in CLR and Alumi-Prep polish, but since i spent the weekend doing body work and painting a truck I think I'm just going to hold off on doing anything with my cat for now......I am beat.

Re: aluminum rims
Yeah I had the same thing in mind, I have an old set of rims to test on, or just try it on my neighbours rims as he's sleeping.

aluminum rims
quick question, i want to clean my rims and am curious as to whether anybody knows the affect that muriatic acid would have on them to clean prior to drying then spraying with eurathane. We use TC503 or aluma prep to polish our aluminum at work which is phosphoric acid and very hard to get out of wo...

Re: Rebuilding engine in Virginia?
Damn, why bother rebuilding or even thinking of it. I've rebuilt two K8 motors myself, in my garage at the cost of close to 2000.00 each, When motor number 6 crapped out on me I said piss on it and ordered a brand new one, it was shipped here the next day and a week later I dropped her in the hole, ...

I myself use 0W50 synthetic and am quite pleased with it, it's well worth the 8.00 a litre.

Re: Manual Trans. shifting problems when hot.
I learned the hard way never to put additives in my motor oil, I "HAD" a Mustang I that was origionally from England, quite a rare car here that's for sure........ I had added "Slick 50" to it when that **** first came out...next thing I knew I was dropping a new motor in her. I ...

As it turns out it is not my syncros that are gone, the stroke on the new slave cylinder is not long enough, it's short by approx. 1/2" ao I "red/Grenned" a shim at work, fastened it between the slave and the lever controlling the release bearing and it works like a charm.

Re: Manual Trans. shifting problems when hot.
I was checking out the slave the other day, there's quite a gap between it and the pressure plate "fork" I'll call it. Can also push the slave piston in by hand with very little effort. But still that would not make a difference with shifting when hot or cold. I had a feeling it was my syn...

Re: faulty headlamps
No high beams either unless I use the flash to pass. I have power going to the switch, from the switch to the fuse block under the hood and power from the fuse block but no power when I test the sockets themselves. It just doesn't make sense. I can't help but think of that phrase "needles in a ...

Re: faulty headlamps
The fuse was the very first thing I had checked, then the bulbs themselves, basically a process of elimination but without the eliminating. Today I replaced the main switch, entire switch assembly behind the steering wheel and still no go, I stipped every wire harness to check for break, etc, no pro...

faulty headlamps
No mod's. etc. needed. I just need headlights. When I turn my headlamps on using the switch my marker lights come on but no headlights, if I pull the switch to activate the high beams as though I were flashing them the high beams do work but that's it. I have checked the switch, fuse, relay tucked i...
