new valve cover gasket put on today. no more burning oil, and i had oil on the 4th sparkplug which is no longer there. discovered i have a pretty noticeable air leak. i can hear the air when i have my doors closed and windows up.

finally got my new muffler welded on and the big hole there fixed. magnaflow high flow muffler.

oh i live in halifax nova scotia in canada. yeah the teal mx was a Frankenstein job. every mx3 around here is in bad shape because of salt mines in relatively good shape compared to most ive seen around. i was worried about the frame too but its on there good. its been my daily driver since december.

im have a friends father whos been a mechanic for 40 years to fix the frame hes going to fix it for around 100 bucks.

so on the bottom of the MAF is there supposed to be 2 screws there to hold the hose in the air box? there was like a half inch gap i noticed today, i wrapped tape around it to keep the hose in. does anyone know if i could just get these screws from a hardware store like Canadian tire or should i go ...

my idle was bouncy and high. i checked my inside fuses and replaced what ones were blown and missing and changed my plugs then my idle problem was gone.

is the ticking your valves tapping? check if it stops after a few minutes, mine were tapping when i had low oil until i topped it up. then it stopped and came back about 2 weeks ago but would only tap for a few minutes. i put lucas oil additive in and it stopped immediately and my cars been working ...

your car shouldn't idle over 2k on the coldest days of winter. i live in nova scotia canada and temperatures hit well below -0. mine starts at 1.5k revs and drops down gradually as the temp. gauge creeps up. i'd suggest check your fuses and change your plugs/wires. maybe someone messed with the idle...
