Mine just died at 251000 km. Now the replacement is doing the same thing, RPMS cutting out at highway speeds every 10 minutes or so. Im going to give that permanent disty fix a shot.

it couldn't hurt to replace both o2 sensors. But they are supposed to be disgusting looking. There is another way to test them I think.

You can hear a suction noise? If you dont have a cold air intake, there could be a nice vacuum leak in the intake assembly.

Maybe unplug the VAF start the car, and see if any of the conditions have changed. This could rule out the Vaf being faulty or not. If there is no change then the Vaf has gone for the ****s. I remember when I redid my intake I forgot to plug the vaf in and the car barely moved...

are you saying that the inside diameter of the klde intake manifold is the same as the inside diameter of the k8 intake manifold?
