Thanks...I think I posted all the pics of my cleaned engine bay a while back and what was used.

The intake manifold that I have is the K8 one.

If your car drops at 5500 RPMS and you pull over and then 1-2 minutes later you can start it again it sounds like the distributer. Consider doing the external HEI mod - even a new or rebuilt disty can have this problem.

I'll have to second that. When I got my car back after the ZE swap my cruise would not kick in. It was just the vacuum line. There should be a line going from the cruise box on the passenger side of the engine to the intake manifold.

Yo,
Check out the frequently asked questions for the v6 and also remember about the 6th wire.

Into the loom. Ensure that the 6th wire does not go into the distributer - esentially by passing the HEI of the distributer. And yes, your right, much better to be sure than sorry.

It seems to me, from my experience. That the mod without cutting the wire only helps things a certain amount. When the cut the wire, it runs perfect. I cut the wire 1" from where it enters the harness.

Okay, I just got back from the test. I took the car up to 150 and held it there for about 5 minutes. The car did not cut out. I cut that 6th wire, and now the mod works fine. Prior to this, I was unable to steadily go past 110km/h. I though for sure I had a faulty external HEI or that the connection...

Ok, I read the PT forums and went ahead and cut that wire. Now Im going to take it for a cruise to see if I can go past 110 for a few minutes.

Say what?
We are supposed to cut one of the wires? I've been having some issues past 110 km/h (engine cutting out like before except not as bad.) is there something you want to change from the initial instructions for an HEI mod, without the external coil?

Watch out for the distributer failing - this is a big pain in the a--, you will have the engine cut off at cruising speeds and you will have to pull over and wait a few minutes to start it again. This is incredibly common. Watch out for the CV joints, check for clicking when turning - these cars are...

A turbo charged GM ecotec engine? Are you crazy? Like the one from the cobalt maybe? That would cost some serious money. I would not like to be the one to wire that up to our cars :) On a serious note, that engine does not impress me at all. A mildly turbo or supercharged KLZE would be more feasible.

I totally disagree. This car easily does 0-60 in 6 seconds or less. Especially if the car is running well and decent tires. One thing about butt dyno's is that this car has a very flat torque curve - this may lead you to think that its slower than it is.

Engine Cleaning

Okay, so its not the greatest picture because my camera is shite, and the lighting was so so...but in person its incredible. Look closely at the hoses and such that are normally dull, and the intake pipe too. Tools used to do this task. 2 microfibre cloths from the dollar store. 1500 grit sandpaper ...
