Re: seized cam 94 mx3 1.8 v6
BTW-what is the best way to check if it is the exhaust cam ? Pull the cam cover? Try to turn the cam the other way?

Re: seized cam 94 mx3 1.8 v6
Thanks for the reply. The car was apparently cruising down the street when it quit. I checked the belt and it was broken, but when I got round to checking further, the rear cam is seized for whatever reason, and before I get into pulling the plenum etc I am looking to find if anyone else has run int...

seized cam 94 mx3 1.8 v6
Some time back I posted regarding a 94 mx3 that I'd bought with a no-run situation-the distributor wasn't turning. I thought it might be a broken belt but when I looked closer, the rear cam is seized. The question is: how big a problem is this? Thanks in advance for all help.

Re: Evapo-Rust rust remover neat product
The stuff sure looks like phosphoric acid, which is both cheap and plentiful. It's pretty harmless to skin and eyes as well.

Re: distributor problems 1.8 v6
I haven't pulled the cover off the timing belt but the tension was still intact, so I assumed (rightly or wrongly) that the problem was the distributor. I will have to get someone to crank it over while I watch the belt for rotation. Is the shearing of teeth a common problem for motors with this mil...

Re: distributor problems 1.8 v6
Do these motors have a habit of snapping distributor shafts or cams?fowljesse wrote:Sounds like it to me. It's very easy to take out. Hopefully, you don't have a broken cam! Maybe it's just loose, and the teeth aren't engaging.

distributor problems 1.8 v6
I have a '94 mx3 with a 1.8 v6 , (166km) which has abruptly quit running. The motor turns over, timing belt is intact, but no spark. The rotor on the distributor does not rotate when the motor is turning over. Would I be correct in assuming that the distributor shaft or parts thereof are scrooged? S...
