Have you tried resetting the idle??? I had the exact same issue with mine but I cant quite remember what the fix was right off hand, aside from resetting the idle. I'll post back when I remember.

No worries, bare metal has been lightly oiled for the time being, and as for the primer, I'm starting with a coat of self etching,followed by a coat of Duplicolor sandable.

you can't hot tank aluminum.. if you could i wouldnt be asking how to clean it lol. Ummmm :confused2: ...yeah, actually you can...just depends on the hot tank cleaning solution the shop is using...there are aluminum safe cleaners out there, but not many shops use em...which I don't see why, saying ...

Acid porting works nice....or just get it hot tanked

A little too rich for my blood though...but then again, I originally paid 1200 for my current mx3 and the parts car that came with it, both from the junkyard. But then again, I've probably put 10X that ammount into it already, and it's not even finished yet...
