Well, as far as I'm concerned, I'd never even think about taking my car to a mechanic.
But of course, that's gonna be your decision, but if you can find your way around the engine, I'd recommend you do it yourself, at least until you exhaust your options.

You're welcome.
Don't forget to crush the sleeve when you reinstall the nut. Otherwise, you may lose the wheel.
Ask me how i know...

Here you have an example for a CAI. Air doesn't get much colder than that.

Re: Socket Size ?
It's a 32 mm. Make sure you get a 6 point impact socket. I know they're more expensive than regular sockets, but, believe me, those nuts are torqued to about 175 lbs/ft, and they get pretty tight. You will have a very hard time trying to get them out manually (been there), and you'll end borrowing a...

Re: Intermittent skip/pop/power loss
P.S.,I did not notice this stumble or back pop at highway speeds above 70mph.An occasional hesitation, but minimal. There's your fix! Just keep it over 70!!! Id start by replacing all the vacuum hoses, just to be sure. Then, get a manual and a multimeter and test all the sensors, especially th...

Re: Hesitation when giving it too much gas.
There are 2 things that come to mind, that could cause such problem. One is cheap, the other one is...not. Try replacing the PCV valve. Sometimes, when it gets stuck, it causes power loss. That's the cheap fix. If that doesn't work, get rid of the catalytic converter. Sometimes when the car has a lo...

Re: Funny Viberations.
Ryan: first, if your alt is giving you trouble, I'd deal with it. A belt that's too tight can definitely increase wear in the water pump bushing over time. My advise would be: change or fix the alternator, install the belt at the right tension and see if the vibrations subside. If they don't, a new ...

Re: hard shifting
Before you open up the tranny, take a good look at the clutch pilot bearing, and the end of the tranny input shaft, where the pilot bearing fits. If the input shaft is worn out or the pilot bearing busted, shifting can become almost impossible.

Re: i need help
Can you give more information? Is the starter cranking the engine? Do you smell gas after cranking for a while? If the engine is not cranking, do you hear a ticking sound when you try to start it? Is the battery in good shape? Did you do anything to the engine (or the car in general) right before it...

Re: A/C can't compete with Florida heat
Highest so far has been 98. It will be over 100 very shortly I am sure though. I agree. I'm in Miami, and the heat is unbelievable. Today it rained all day long, starting about 6 A.M. and even with the rain, stepping outside was like walking into an oven. Anyways, back on topic: if your AC has good...

True, but I wouldn't bet on it being available here much longer than that. In Wisconsin its sale is already restricted, and in California they're thinking about it.SuperK wrote:only the EU is going to be banning r 134.

Re: Air Conditing in the online manual?
Yep, a '92 is R-12. Sorry. But look at the bright side: at least you found out before you replaced your line. Either way, converting your system to R-134a should cost you about $400-$500. Just, as I said, make sure you take it to a reputable shop. Some will just clean up the old compressor and drier...
