Re: Another problem to solve.... Now the A/C
sounds like your hosed.
$1100 is on the high side. take it some where else. Now that you know what it needs you can just call around and try to get a quote over the phone.
I have the same problem with my mini van.
needs a compressor, dryer, condensor, and an expansion valve. I have found a...

Re: What do you all do with your old K8 engines?
130bhp is enough for a sandrail.
Which tranny do you think you'll use?
When you hook up the motor you will more than likely be freeing up another 10 bhp with freer flowing exhaust and cool air intake.
That sounds way easier than its actually going to be. theres alot to consider. the whole...

Ryencool: the answer depends on what kind of coverage you have on the car. whats your deductable? do you have comp and collision or just liability?
Williamtauch: I can't help you with the best place except to say check them out and ask the questions I mentioned earlier. Re: Underhood Temps
like Dave said, remove the weather stripping.
I removed the one near the wipers that seals the hood near the firewall. You will notice alot of heat coming out of there once you do this. I have not measured under hood temps, before and after, but would think this does help. Its not a problem with...

Re: What's your temperature gauge read?
Mine has always sat a little below half way, a guess that makes it about 40%, except tor the time when the water pump went south. After a new pump and timing belt it returned to 40%.
Andy P. 93 GS

Re: Looking to Buy - Some Questions
everything sounds good so far, but keep in the back of your mind that the timing/water pump replacement is expensive and probably due within a year after purchase. The same goes for the distributor, they have a way of going bad after 80k.
It would be a good idea for your friend to check the comp...

Re: Clacking Engine noise on cold start
just ignore it, it goes away after a couple of minutes anyways :p
Mine have been doing the same thing since driving it off the lot in "93". I even questioned two different dealers on this when the car was still under warranty and they both said the same thing, live with it.
Keeping...

Re: v-6 160,000 miles how reliable?
#3 would be your valve cover gasket not a head gasket. And yes the front is easy to fix, its the back one that sucks. I had mine fixed once already under my extended warranty
but there starting to puddle again. Oh well I'll use this as an excuse to put the phenolic spacers on when I have the int...

Re: Car overheated on highway (Coolant boiled over and spaye
Once you have filled it back up, keep a close eye on the temp guage and check the fluid level frequently. You might have a slow leak somewhere so whenever you drive some place start looking for antifreeze on the ground, indicating a possible water pump leak. if its a head gasket you won't get to far...

Re: Looking to Buy - Some Questions
If a loose shifter is your biggest concern than go for it. sounds like the shifter bushings have gone south. fairly easy and cheap fix.
Not sure on the ABS brake light.
It probably wouldn't hurt to have struts after 70k but I'm not one to talk because mine are original at 117k.
There are b...

Sounds like an air leak. check for hairline cracks in the intake tubing.
could also be a lose electrical connection
exagerated by turning.
How are the motor mounts?
Does it do this turning left or right?
or one way and not the other?
Andy P. 93 GS
