Re: Anyone with a N/A K8 faster than 15.567 ??

it takes approximatly 10hp per .1 second improvement in the quarter mile. That means you will need to make approx 50 hp more than currently making. Hard to believe but not impossible. You could do this with a combination of weight loss and power gain. Each 100 lbs of weight loss is approximatly 10 h...

Re: MX3.com quarter mile time list

93 MX-3 best time K8 turbo 14.3 @ 105 mph
10 Psi, 2.3 60ft.
That 14.3 doesn't do the car justice. I think the
driver ( me ) just couldn't launch it.

Re: Anyone with a N/A K8 faster than 15.567 ??

As far as I can remember back, and that would be since the start of this site. no one with a K8, stock or otherwise modified, without the help of FI or nitrous has done that. My best time before adding the turbo setup was 16.0 and I remember a couple of high 15 second passes by old members. Great jo...

Re: Supercharger for 1.8L V6

go to PROBETALK.com and search for superchargers there. there is one kit available for the
2.5L motors. The kit is only the shafts and brackets needed to mount one. It looks like it
would work for the 1.8l motor.

Re: running lean still, grrr...

I did have an intercooler, and I agree that a wideband is a great addition to any setup. But I did successfully boost 10 psi for over two years (50k miles) without one. It can be done you just have to be smart about it. Now with that said I will use one with my next setup along with megasquirt. Andy

Re: running lean still, grrr...

The klde VAF is definitely calibrated for the 2.5L motors. I don't remember
exactly what the effect is from using one on the K8 Ecu.
I just don't know if it will cause you to run richer or leaner.

Re: running lean still, grrr...

This is why it is hard to give advice without knowing every little detail. Why are you running a klde VAF? That is not what I was running and that will make a difference across the board. My setup: stock ECU, stock VAF, stock TPS set at .45v, stock timming, stock distr, stock clutch, from there it ge...

Re: running lean still, grrr...

I have a 255 lph pump vs your 190 lph pump. According to what I thought, the 12:1 FMU should create more fuel pressure than my 8:1. 12:1 means that the FMU will raise the fuel pressure 12psi for every pound of boost. My 8:1 FMU will cause you to run more lean. I highly doubt the fuel filter will hel...

Re: running lean still, grrr...

Well I did run an 8:1 fmu vs your 12:1 fmu My AFPR was an ebay special. with shipping it was like $30. worked fine for me, I made darn sure it had no leaks before ever driving the car. I never had a wideband guage so I honestly couldn't tell you if I was leaning out or to rich. The narrow band was f...

Re: running lean still, grrr...

If you don't have an AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator) maybe that will make the difference.
I know my stock fuel regulator did not like the high flow fuel pump.

Andy P. 93 GS 1.8T car is totaled

Its been a great run. My MX-3 was rear ended on Monday which then shot me into a tree. I'm bruised and sore but fine otherwise. The car is a foot shorter in the rear and 1' & half shorter in the front. I haven't even popped the hood yet, its jammed shut, to be able to asses the turbo parts damag...

not so similar, I have a 1.8 L you have 2.5L. I'm still running the stock 1.8L ECU. My ECU thinks its working with 180cc inj not the 220cc inj I have installed. I don't think this is a timing issue. Your FMU would should have no effect on your idle. Do you have the coolant still running through the ...

I started out with the thought to just use the K8 as a learning tool. almost 2 years later and I'm still running the K8 and still learning. I have over 50k miles running with my setup. I'm responsible while at the same time I don't baby it.( except 1st gear). Without an intercooler 7-8 psi was all I...

If you search on the probetalk forum there was a writeup on modifying the hydraulic tensioner to a manual adjuster. It involved drilling and tapping the bottom of the tensioner and using a bolt for the adjustment. I haven't done this but its something I might try.
