Re: 1994 1.6 5 speed mx3 idling problems
I had this exact same problem in September on my car, and it's starting to happen again. When I had it repaired in the Fall, the stated cause was a bad EGR Solenoid valve. Personally I think it just gets gunked up, and replacing things is just a way for them to make money. I have to do some work to ...

Re: Water pump & Timing belt
Also, my car has started to make a bit of a "grinding" or friction noise whenever I turn the wheel to the left... unnoticeable at slow speeds but it gets louder the faster you go. i believe that's a wheel bearing my friend, not totally positive on that though, but pretty sure Well the tir...

Re: Water pump & Timing belt
Er, those pages are under the assumption that you have the I4...V6 would be under B2/E2 respectively. Thank you, I do have the I4 and I will be attempting this tomorrow -- I have reviewed the manual fairly well. My only concern is keeping the cams from moving while the belt is off... any suggestion...

Is it ok to work on the car using just the axle stands as supports?

Water pump & Timing belt
Hey all, bear with me. I know my way around bikes pretty alright and usually do my own light work. I have never *really* worked on a car before though. My 94 MX-3 needs the timing belt and water pump changed. I have all the parts, and a mechanic friend of mine was going to do the work at his shop. F...

Re: Broken sunroof?
As a point of interest, there is no 'metal' cover. It is just a [tinted] glass roof.
I will still take some pics tomorrow when I get it back.

Re: Broken sunroof?
So I had another look at the shop manual on the site and it is definitely an aftermarket sunroof. The motor in mine is much different from the one shown there. It does have a motorized control near the rearview mirror... Maybe I won't seal it just yet. Sealing it will be fairly quick... there is (ho...

Re: Broken sunroof?
Yep it's motorized... it did not appear to me to be aftermarket at all but I have never seen (upclose) an mx-3 sunroof so I couldn't really say one way or the other. It is fairly close to working... if i could get the whole damn thing apart to clean it and put it back together I'm sure it would work...

Re: Broken sunroof?
Had it into the dealership about some other things so I also asked them to look at the sunroof. Turns out it was an aftermarket sunroof which is why I was having so much trouble with it. Think I'll just be buying some black caulking and sealing it... shame but not worth the money to fix. Thanks for ...

Re: Good mechanic?
haha I know Colin... I've met you before. I was the guy that ordered the front spring from you a month ago or so and because the computers were down it didn't come in on the right day and it messed the whole situation up. :) I actually would like to replace the timing belt and water pump... maybe I'...

Thanks rekognize, I gave him a call. The shop isn't too far away either, which I like.

Re: Good mechanic?
lol, well unless you plan on working on my car at my house, I don't think that's going to be very much help - Georgetown isn't exactly close. I already said I don't have time to fix another vehicle, and no matter what you always need a mechanic you can trust... you can't do everything yourself all t...

Good mechanic?
Hey all,
I'm looking for a good mechanic in the GTA... one you guys know/trust/etc. I don't mind doing easy maintenance work and whatnot, but as the story goes I'm just too busy to invest time into doing any kind of serious work on the car.
Where do you guys take your cars to have work done?
