after much angst, reinstalled the KL01 VAF, chipped KL07 ECU. The car idles and runs now, so it seems I had a fulty stock KL07 chip.
Would you believe the radiator sub-tank (where the radiator cap goes) exploded! More later after that is all put right.
Thanks for the tips guys!

Re: Should I do a KLG4 Crank Swap?
Gentlemen, The last post hit a nerve, so I looked up some crankshaft test literature from the Univ. of Toledo, done for the American Iron and Steel institute. It's a long report, but very definitive. The entire report is at this site: http://www.autosteel.org/~/media/Files/Autosteel/Programs/LongPro...

Re: KL swap, no idle! Out of ideas.
I will change back to the JE50. Thanks guys. Just by the way, I started to remove the injectors for a check, found one of the rail bolts WAY loose, and apparently (though I suppose I could have knocked it into the valley area) NO O-ring on the #1 injector. That might just be the major vacuum leak so...

KL swap, no idle! Out of ideas.
I am just finishing up a swap using a Millenia engine with KL31 heads, Millenia intake, 01 cams, KL02 VAF, EGR removed and blocked, K8 disty. The swap went reasonably well, with low mileage belt, tensioners, etc, all in proper time, I swear! It starts and runs. However, there is NO idle, just spitti...

Re: V6 won't perform at all without joint shaft! Help!
Thnks for the tip. Now, do you have a source for a 2-bolt MTX shaft, or better, have one yourself. My new KL block has the full complement of usable threaded holes, but I'm not proud, just desperate. I HAVE to have a shaft in hand this week. Do you know for sure what donor cars carry a 2-bolt MTX sh...

PM'd Terry. His joint shaft seems to have the wrong bolt pattern. He's checking. If anyone has another shaft, PLEASE let me know!

Source for Change Rod Boot?
Hi,
Does anyone have a source for the transmission change rod boot? (the rubber bellows over the shifter rod where it goes into the MTX) Mazda wants $43 for this little rubber boot!
Thanks
Steve

[WTB] KL01 ECU
Want to buy a KL01 ECU for a manual transmission MX-6, for KLDE swap for my 1992 MX-3 GS. I believe that the last digits of the part# should be 18881C or D. This is an ODBC-I ECU. I am located in the Clearwater, FL area. Please call 727-459-4781 or email me at stevesei@tampabay.rr.com.
Thanks!
Steve

Re: A Realistic look at MX-3's
I brought my GS back from a hulk to a fully functional daily driver; A/C, automatic seatbelts, vents, VRIS, and all. I love it, but I have to agree with Ryan on several things: 1. The McPherson supension. Mazda did a good job with this, and it works great up to about 8/10ths cornering. At 10/10ths i...
