Re: No Go?
does it struggle during idle? based off what all you've checked, i can only think of a vaccuum problem. did you check all of your vac hoses?

Re: After market cam gears
you will get minimal gains in n/a engines...especially sohc's. the best hp gains are for forced induction set-ups.

Re: Who has a BPT swap?
hey teltic...you want awd? there's two things that you need before you even start.
#1. have a lot of money
#2. have the ability to give it away easily
for awd you'd have to do a lot of fabrication to the undercarraige of the car...like get a new one. there's nowhere for the differential to mo...

Re: unburned fuel causing misfire, what is it?
if it's not your plugs, put some injector cleaner in. maybe one of them is sticky and putting too much fuel in there. also, check the voltage coming fromt he distributor and check the continuity of your wires. also check and make sure you put the wires where they need to go...#1 wire to #1 cyl.....h...

Re: Who has a BPT swap?
the awd tranny is not worth putting in because of the extra weight and you'll only be using the fwd portion. the only benifit is the lsd.

Re: Who has a BPT swap?
i think it might have slightly better gearing since the motor has a higher output vs. the 105hp of the mx-3 DOHC. but the swap is not "needed".

Re: b6t, bpt, bpd
yeah, you'll have to cut a hole in your hood because the b6t sits straight up unlike the tilted mx-3 b6. the bpt and bpd are the same externally so it's the same installation. the only diff between the two is how much you want to spend. i believe the latter is the easiest.

Re: Who has a BPT swap?
correct if i'm wrong(cause i'm not 100% sure here) the escort/protege use the same motor as the n/a bp series motor but they also use the F25M-R tranny...same one that's in the mx-3(4cyl). the stock tranny from the mx-3 "will" bolt up. i e-mailed the guy at the link above and he told me th...

if it's the factory motor, it's the b6t. you can swap it in your car. cork sport has the write up on everything needed.

Re: The Fastest engine to fit in my mazda?
it will mount up to the stock tranny. the bpt/bpd tranny is awd, but the motor is not. the drive shaft has to be shaved down about a 1/2in. that's all the fabrication needed.

Re: The Fastest engine to fit in my mazda?
from what i've found to be the easiest and best for the money is the BPD out of the 323 gtr. it's rated between 210 and 235hp. it'll run ya just under 1900 bones for the motor, ecu, harness, and sensors. but there's a list of other stuff you'll need also.
