a bpt motor is an awesome setup in an mx3, but far from just needing the motor. be prepared to spend some money on it.

The haltech is like over a grand and then you need a laptop to tune it and on top of that you need a load of dynotime which is the only way to actually tune it.. Ohh and if you make a mistake tuning the haltech then you could throw a rod out the side of your brand new engine. I know a few people wh...

200k+ on an mx3 auto tranny, if it hasn't been rebuilt/replaced, it will be soon. do compression and leakdown tests to give you an idea of condition of the motor.

also, unless you plan on doing a tranny swap, don't look to get too many extra ponies out of it. especially with as many miles on it.

like justin was saying, it all depends on how serious you are with the end result. if this is just going to stop at a daily driver that you don't do anything else to, go with the cheapest route. if you plan on doing any upgrades or racing etc, think ahead. i also agree that a used harness can/will c...

Re: Help out a noobie...

don't take this the wrong way, but you're car is slow. if you're on a tight budget, it will stay slow. there's not a lot out there that's going to make it much better w/o putting some money in it. if you're into the whole bodykit thing, i'd go that route. if you're looking for performance, start sav...

Re: BPT swap parts needed

again, it depends on what year your car is. if you have a '92-93, a cheaper route, though not as good, is to go with the bpt ecu. if you have a '94+, i'd go with the stand-alone.

Re: BPT swap parts needed

the tranny does you no good, so i hope you're not paying extra for it. when i asked what year, i meant your car.

for the best results, use a standalone system.

Re: The Question.. NEED HELPPLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE BPT

IMO, which doesn't count for much, i would go with a bp swap. slightly higher compression and a better flowing head are some of the reasons. on a budget? just grab the ecu and wiring harness from the pro lx/escort gt(protege gt in Canada?). once you get some time/money, you can turbo the bp, and get...
