Go with a boosted BP. Just look in the J/Y for a 90-94 protege LX or a 91-96 escort gt. There is a difference between the BPT and Boosted BP.

Boosted BP has 9 to 1 compression pistons and better flowing heads. Need any info I dont mind to help. Biggest issue is wire harness.

If they both work fine, it would be stupid to remove. There really isnt any gains in the long run on the removal.

Nope, but I have it setup right now to run just a tad rich. But it only runs rich at wide open throttle but thats to be expected with a VAF that dumps all the fuel the injector can handle at wide open throttle.

Get the RX7 vaf and a good wideband and you can do a little tuning with it.

i always had problems with fuel cut on the mx vaf, so I changed over to the Rx7 B-code Vaf. I never used the bypass BOV, it was much easier just to install my HKS SSQ.

With what you would spend on a build up you can run a nice little turbo setup with much more gains. To each his own. But I have seen people spend alot on N/A builds then wish they would of boosted.

Boost that bad boy. Nothing better then a Boosted BP. Look around for used BPT turbo parts. There is a guy trying to sell the complete kit for a turbo upgrade on clubprotege.

Yes you can. It really depends on your resources, if the SOHC engine is cheap and available get it then swap heads later. If not dont worry about the SOHC and Gte the DOHC BP

Why just get a BP when the BP-T is such a nice little engine for the mx. Would be a better option.. no? If you boost a BP you will get better HP gains with a Cheaper price. Kinda wished I had just boosted a BP on my first swap but I thought the same as you. It went to s--- so I snagged a High milea...

The 1.8 in the DX is a SOHC the head is different but the block and internals are all the same, that goes for the miata 1.8L too( heads are different block is a BP block).

As far as other cars you can find the BP in the Escort GT 91-96
