ok, how much power am I losing in reality? I have the probe intake in my garage, I could swap it out.... Is it worth it?

My car's exhaust smells a bit of gas, so I am assuming along with the occasional backfire that it is running rich.

It also seems to run a little rich too.... Could this be a contribution from not having the right intake? Not enough air flow through the manifold?

Oil in intake.....

My car recently started to burn a little oil. I have the 2.5 probe GT engine. It seems that there is a TON of oil going into the intake, my filter has a little in it, and the mass air is a greasy mess on the inside. Is this normal? Is the PCV valve shot? Should I run a catch can? Could this be why t...

oh ok, so the probe GT intake manifold needs to be put in instead of the mazda 1.8? Everything else is probe.... VAF?? I drive hondas.... you need to explain that to me... These cars are a bit more difficult to work on. The 2.5 injectors in conjunction with the 1.8 intake manifold is not a good combo?

The are all black except for the outer stitching that flows along the outside of the seat on the edges, that is red. I dont think they are aftermarket, because someone would have had to make an entire aftermarket interior too... unless someone already does that. What do you guys think of it o...

I would say depends a lot on the offset of the wheel, and what serries tire you plan to run. I am running a 16X7 with a 205/50/16 and I can barely get my little finger between the inside of the tire and the strut. Now granted it doesnt rub, but yours are an inch wider. I think it all depends on the ...

Intake manifold is the Mazda one from the 1.8, that is what I am supposed to use right, so the air intake goes in the right direction? I have the probe GT computer, and GT ingectors. thanks for the help thus far. It just seems to run sketchy. I could replace the rotor, are these known to go bad? (re...

I thought so.... It may be one of the very first ones or somthing. It all matches so I know it wasnt swapped in.

How rare are these? It is in perfect shape, only one scuff mark 3 inches tall on passenger seat side.

So it may not even be a GS at all? It came with the 1.8......

Yeah, at idle you can hear a slight backfire every so often. It sounds like a little rumble, not loud, but I think every so often it misses. It has new cap, plugs, wires.... May there be somthing else or is that even a problem?

thanks for the speedy reply!

Ok, My Mazda has a probe gt motor in it. It is the GS model, I have the origonal computer from the 1.8, and the new one for the 2.5. I also have both mass air flow sensors as well. Does anyone know what combination works best? Currently I am running all probe parts, and it runs great, just wondering...

I have 2 computers you can try..... Depending on which engine you have. Not sure if it's internally inside the ecu and that is why it is malfunctioning or what. If the ecu is bad let me know.

I didnt say I didnt like them, I am questioning the reasoning behind it is all. Unless there is no reason for it, then no one should have a problem with me asking for one.
