I believe you can buy a carbon fiber rx7 sunroof. Not sure if fc or fd version.

The sending unit is in the gas tank, accessible under the rear seat. It looks like this:

I've had it out before, I believe that it's you normal dash light attached to the back of a clear plastic ring that acts kind of like fiberoptics. It's indeed connected between the front and rear valve cover.
Front blows, rear sucks.
The other end of the T normally leads to the airfilter box/hose.
Not sure why it needs to be connected to the airfilter side.
