Re: PRC solenoid no.2
Yes its a code 35, PRC #2 Page F-126 on the online service manual has how to check the PRC solenoids http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r298/mikefoo/F-126.jpg If you check them and one is indeed faulty let me know and I can see about shipping one out to you if you cannot locate one at a local wrecker.

Re: Vaccum leak?
If you can find the source of the wacky idle you will be my hero. First few things to try are the PCV valve on the valve cover, they are about 2 dollars and sometimes get too much oil in them. Then check for any intake leaks past the airflow meter on the hosing or connectors. If those two dont work ...

Re: HI EVERYONE, general questions
If you feel competent in wiring and have a full bottle or two of tylenol you
can try a MegaSquirt standalone. Over on ClubProtege.com Jacob Russell builds
these for about 3-400 bucks and will likely help you out if you go through him.

Re: Starting Problem.
If you get it going by pushing the clutch in and out a bunch, check
the clutch safety switch before doing anything that costs alot
of money.

How are both doors and the hatch? If they are in good condition id consider
driving up to Edmonton from Calgary to pick them up pending what you
want for them.

Re: Rough shut off...
This happens in some newer cars that ive read about. Its called the 'Atkins' cycle or something like that. What is happening is some unburned vapour is igniting causing another rotation like you expected. Im not sure how to remedy this but it does no damage to the car. Loosing 1/4 tank of gas would ...

Re: Ebay cold air intakes
Here is the cold air intake made for the 4 cylinders, SOHC. It will fit fine for the DOHC engine even though it says SOHC only. I had it on my DOHC B6 and its even on my BP now till I get my standalone sorted. http://www.aspecproducts.com/images.asp?theid=1320" onclick="window.open(this.hr...

Keep in mind you need two air nipples, one to feed the Idle Air Control and
the other for the valve cover. Those Honda pipes look like they only have one.

Re: Intermittent loss of power/fuel
Tftech - you can use Permatex gasket maker on the throttle body no problem or order a TB gasket from any dealer. They will likely have to order the gasket and its about 5 bucks. Permatex is 5-7 dollars at your local hardware store. (Get the oil resistant stuff its the same price as regular and good ...

Re: Intermittent loss of power/fuel
O2 sensor, TB clean and TPS adjust doesnt hurt. I think mine is more vaccuum related because it seems to only happen when the clutch is in and I tap on the brakes. All the hoses are new so I suppose I'll go through em 1 by 1. Im also going to try removing the intake hose to the valve cover. The valv...

Re: Intermittent loss of power/fuel
Ive had the same sort of problems with my old B6 DOHC from the 94 mx-3 and now with my brand spankin new BP where the idle is all messy for no apparent reason. I figure since the entire engine was changed out its probably not the engine. So I went over to clubprotege to see if any of them had any id...

Re: ECU failure causes(Solved), now temp guage(Solved). Yay.
So I had two wired in the harness plug reversed. And the temp sensor connector was on ground instead of on the sensor. Not sure how that happened so I'll blame it on the help I got :P. Or the EGR that isnt in the engine now. Its always the EGR. I'll make the correct changes to my wiring how to. Than...

Re: ECU failure causes(Solved), now temp guage ?
Oh no no it wasnt just a random plug and go. I took the wiring diagrams from both Protege and Mx-3 and made the necessary splicing. The pretty picture is in my worklog (link below in red). The ECU and wiring harness are from a 91 Protege LX 1.8 DOHC. Ive also got all 3 temp sensors from that engine....

Re: ECU failure causes?
It turns out it was not the coolant temp sensor as it checks out fine on the ohmmeter. Heres a kicker for you, the car starts, runs and the speedometer even works with no modification from me (thats a big deal as its a 94 DOHC mx-3 with electronic speedo with a 93 BP in it). The one problem now - te...
