Hey, if anyone has their engine out at the moment, please take a measurement for me.

I need the following:

the "scrape guard" on the bottom to the top of the valve cover (height)
the side to side measure of the entire bay (length)
The core support to the firewall (width)

also, if anyone has these ...

I have this thread bookmarked because this is basically what i'm going to do with my bp.

The only difference i guess is that i'm building for torque. Are you more concentrating on horsepower in this build? Is this a strictly track only car?

Take it to the shop dude

unless you have precise measuring tools, you should take it to the shop. the valves and the valve seat should have a 1 degree difference from each other. Thats your interferance angle.

Ok so after tons of studying and scouring this site and others, i think i have a general idea for what i want to do, but i want you guys with mazda knowledge to look it over first.

i've sourced an engine at a local yard for rebuild. Its a 1993 escort gt with 50K miles on the engine.
