Compression

Can somebody explain this to me? People talk about compression with numbers but what do they mean?<P>thanx

Compression usually refers to the compression ratio, i.e. the ratio of the volume of the cylinder at the bottom of the intake stroke to the volume of the cylinder at the top of the compression stroke. Chilton's indicates an average compression ratio of about 9 for most Mazda engines.<BR>Check out 'How Stuff Works' <A HREF="
